Wasting A Morning

Slept in a decent amount today, even though I initially fell asleep on the couch along with Cicely and Oggy at 10:30 or so last night. I woke up around 4:00am and woke both Cicely and Oggy up to have them go to bed. I stayed up for another 45 minutes or so before I headed into the bedroom as well.

The next thing I knew I was getting licked in the face by Oggy, his universal sign for get up, get out of bed and go feed me before you forget. I can honestly say that not once has he been forgotten to be fed, to get his treats or be tucked into bed or a comfy spot since the very first day we brought him home. Whatever makes him feel good though I can deal with, even if it's licking our faces at the crack of dawn so we don't forget his breakfast or dinner.

No matter he is a creature of habit and wants to be sure to follow his daily routine the best that he can day in and day out. I have to give him credit for that, you just don't find that in people much anymore. It's nice to know that species other than humans are still doing things in a predictable manner so they get through the day with the least amount of obstacles.

Cycling & Setup

As I type this I need to get out to the garage and start working on swapping out the stem on my new bike. I am hoping BIG TIME that it will help me with the uncomfortable ride I've been experiencing on the new bike. The thing feels great as far as the ride itself and the transmission / drive train. The problem surfaced after little more than 10 to 15 miles when my ass starts to hurt and other areas get a little numb.

Generally this is a direct correlation to the position of the cyclist or lack of an optimal fit. In my case I knew the bars would be too far away from me and wanted to order the short stem upfront. Do you think the shop that I am no longer going to go to listened to me? Nope, now I am stuck doing the work myself. Although big picture it's probably the best way for it to be done so that I know it's done properly and nothing is half-ass when I go to ride.

Setup Is Complete

Well it took me almost 90 minutes and a little help from Cicely but I managed to get my new bike setup where I think that it should be setup compared to the half ass job that was done when I picked the bike up from the LBS (local bike shop).

He'll usually I will double check everything when I get a new anything, though they are the professionals so I trusted their judgement and suggestions. Bad idea on my part. I decided to check the tire pressures and Whatta you know, they are supposed to be sitting around 110 psi yet they were much closer to the low 80's and the high 70's.

Sure I could be wrong and for a tubeless setup I should be running a lower pressure than what is on the sidewalk of the tire but they never told me that. They said they were set at 110psi and they were wrong, they were no where near that pressure and I had taken the bike for two rides already. I knew the tires felt a little odd to me though I contributed it to the new bike and geometry, unfortunately that was not the case, it was a case of the lazy LBS.

No matter, the bike is all setup now and I will be going for a quick spin on it in just a few minutes to see how it feels. My hope is that it feels great and I am able to start putting more miles on it vs. fiddling with adjustments. The only other thing I may need to buy would be a new seat to match what I am used to. Sucks because then it won't match my bike like the one on there does. Still better than feeling like shxt during a ride!

Photo: yea it's not something that I am proud of today but this was pretty much the extent of my lunch.
