Wilfred

So this morning it's back to work and the daily routines once again. The long weekend was great but leaves me craving more of them.

Last night we watched Dexter and it was great as usual with lots of buildup making me anxious for what's to come. With only 3 episodes left this season there is still a lot of story to be told.

The Walking Dead was on last night as well but Cicely had a lot of work to do for her upcoming craft shows so we will watch it tonight. Nothing like zombies, blood and gore on a Monday!

Since I was still wide awake and wanting to watch some TV I switched over to Netflix to see what I had in the queue. Lots to choose from, what to watch?

Wilfred

Ok so I added this show called Wilfred a few months back to the Netflix queue. It originally aired in 2011 (and still is on at the time I am writing this) on FX. I read that it is based off an Australian sitcom of the same name.

Wilfred is basically about this guy Ryan (Elijah Wood) that tries to kill himself by overdosing on pills, NyQuil and anything else in his medicine cabinet but fails, only to end up being asked by his neighbor, who he has a thing for, to watch her dog Wilfred (Jason Gann).

Things get strange from here on out. Everyone sees Wilfred as a dog except Ryan who sees him as an Australian man wearing a grey dog costume.

Wilfred acts every bit as a teenage boy or twenty something might by doing things such as eating junk food, smoking weed, cigarettes and drinking beer. At the same time Wilfred does dog things like protecting his owner, having a favorite tennis ball, digging holes in the backyard and dry humping the leg of attractive (human) females.

I think Ryan sees Wilfred subconsciously as a man because he wants to and in doing so it helps him to come out of his shell and not do exactly what everyone expects him to do day-to-day. In a sense redirecting him and saving his life.

After only 2 episodes its funny and interesting but awkward at times as well in a strange way. There is only one season on Netflix so I will have to see if the second season shows up at some point down the road.

I guess first things first I need to see if Wilfred can hold my interest the entire first season. Either way it is doing a fine job passing free time until we get back to our weekly shows.
