Level Headed

Today started out with the usual cup of freshly ground and freshly brewed Blind Dog coffee. Cicely jumped in to make me an awesome breakfast burrito to get me off to a great start. Nothing quite like starting a day this way, nice and slow and by our own rules compared to the hustle of the workweek mornings.

Supercross In Atlanta

Once I was done with breakfast it was time to get my RC batteries charged up in case I have some extra time this afternoon to drive and fly my toys. All plugged in and my butt headed back into the house and onto the couch for a while to watch this weeks Supercross race. Great heat races and a great main event in the 450 class, not only because #7 James Stewart took the win, WOOT! this week. But he won his heat race as well. In the main but there was a lot of bar to bar racing. Heck even the 250 class had me on the edge of my seat with great racing action from the heat races to the LCQ's and into the main event.

NASCAR

The NASCAR race in Daytona was a great one as well as making history. After yesterdays big crash in the Nationwide race that put a bunch of fans in the hospital everyone was looking for good racing today. Danika Patrick lead the field to the green flag since she won the pole spot in qualifying this past week. I am not a big fan of hers but she drives for Tony Stewart so since he is my favorite all time driver and can only assume that he sees something more in her than good marketing. She is proving it today by running up front most of the day. In the end it was #48 Jimmy Johnson taking the win, #88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. taking second and #55 Mark Martin in third. The pole setter, #10 Danika Patrick ended up in 8th which makes more history because that is the highest any female has finished in the Daytona 500. Wow, all around what a great race and a great start to the 2013 racing season.

Leveling

I bought a new 48" bubble level at Home Depot yesterday when I stopped by to drop of a bunch of old NiCd and NiMh batteries that needed recycling. The level is pretty bad-ass and cut out of a single piece of aircraft aluminum, but I am a "tool geek" so I have an appreciation for all tools and really enjoy buying them as much as using them. Whether air powered, manual, electric, battery and so on they all have a place in my garage.

Anyway, I need to level the area on the side of the house so it's ready for the guys to show up Friday to build our new shed. I am not sure how level I will be able to get it because I don't want to screw up the grade that is built into the area for drainage (which sucks on that side of the house as it is now). But I will have to get it as good as possible. It's going to be a bit of a pain in the ass, but important so we start our shed with a good foundation and avoid issues later down the road, hopefully.

Ears Lowered

Bi-monthly haircut this evening which I am looking forward to as crazy as that probably sounds - who the heck looks forward to a haircut, I do. It always feels nice and gives me a fresh start so-to-speak. During the summer even more-so because my hair is so dam thick that it is hot when it gets a little long. So yea, that is on the list of today's Sunday to-do's.

Checkered Flag

Time to throw the flag and call it an entry for today. I need to get the side yard finished so it's leveled and enjoy the rest of my Sunday. We donated about $1500+ (new) worth of electronics, small appliances and several other things to Goodwill today which was nice. I hope that someone will get some use out of those items that were just sitting around the house collecting dust and basically all as good as the day that I bought them because I take really good care of my stuff.

In the coming weeks we have to try and get rid of our current couch and over-sized chair and ottoman. Hopefully we can sell it to someone on Craigslist for a fair price otherwise we may have to either donate it or just use freecycle and give it to someone in need. I am sure there is someone out there that can use it and will enjoy it. It is 10 years old, but it's actually in really good condition. I have spent a lot of time on this furniture from sleeping after surgeries to relaxing after a hard day I hope the new stuff can live up to the same comfort level. But that is a paragraph for another day I guess. Until then enjoy your Sunday - I'm gonna!
