Maintenance Day

Today started out early after a late night at work yesterday trying to get caught up on one of my newly inherited games. A little sleepy eyed most of the morning to say the least but nothing a few cups of Blind Dog coffee couldn't fix.

Car Maintenance

Noticed on the way into work yesterday that my car was coming up on its next oil change and service thanks to the little decal on the window.

It was supposed to only be oil and lube but I guess that I am due for a 15k mile service as well even though I only have just over 6k miles on the car. Really strange how they do that these days, kinda unnecessary to be honest. Just wait for the mileage and do it then. If a car is mostly sitting and not doing several short drives the oil will not go bad, just saying. They tell me that  the short drives and related don't really matter, especially on the turbo models like mine. They like to do it every 5k to keep the manufacturer happy. No problem, I can deal with that.

Not to mention the fact that it's all free of charge for me so other than a slight inconvienance of dropping it off and picking it up later in the day it's no big deal to take care of it. More importantly it will satisfy the manufacturer to maintain the warranty.

Clean Grill

Cicely on the other hand is going in for her 6 month check-up and cleaning at the dentist to get her grill shined up. As much as that girl smiles she needs to keep it as sparkly as the jewelry she creates and that is no easy task. From what she said she had a great check-up and there are only a few areas they want to keep an eye on the next couple of visits I guess - cool!

Work

Developing games this week has been a challenge and I am actually a bit stressed trying to flip content to my engineers. I forgot hard hard it can be to pick up someone elses work. It's not that they did anything wrong, but they were knee deep into it for over 11 months, I have to figure all of that out in only days. Lucky for me the original developer is still in and out between his newly aquired task so I can pick his brain - otherwise mine would have exploded by now. The game looks awesome and his team has kicked some major ass on it so the last thing I want to do is come in on it and mess up any momentum. For now, I just want it to be done.

Outtie

That wraps it up for today. I am only writing in Blogger now and will probably start up a new blog that is private so I can put my original 300+ Day One journal entries in there. The first 178 or so of those don't have pictures (the application did not allow it at that time) but there is a lot of memories in there that I want to hang onto, just not publicly since there is mention of names and such because the intent was to never make it public other than within say my family or children. Going to be quite the task since there is no easy export feature, more like lots of copy & paste - oh joy!
