It's Sunday which means everything that we put off during our 1/2 day on Friday and our normal full day of relaxation on Saturday will have to be done today in a game of "catch up". No big deal it just makes the day go by much faster than either of us would like it to.
Really yesterday was not a wasted day because I managed to get a lot of stuff done around the house and Cicely had her big show at GSR. After talking to her last night she was really happy about the turnout and the overall showing. She made a nice profit and all of the great people she met made the day that much better. Even though she is exhausted I am confident she has her sights set on the next event - that's my girl!
MX Racing Round 6
Watched the supercross race on SPEED this morning while waking up with some Blind Dog coffee goodness. It was an awesome race as usual, unfortunately the rider I follow #7 James Stewart did not finish on the podium once again.
When the checkers flew Stewart barely missed a step on the podium finishing 4th overall. A very respectable ride since he is hurt and the track was pretty dam technical and tight. I may have to start watching more of the 250 class because they are starting to really have some intense battles. I just don't have any favorites in the class anymore.
Malcolm Stewart #32 (James Stewart's brother) is a really fun rider to watch and has the same style as James in a sense but I like to see more rivalry and battles week-to-week. Although this week he ended up dead-last in 20th place due to a mid-race fall. Problem is if I started to watch both classes it's a shxt-ton of TV. Then when NASCAR season starts, those races are generally 4 hours long, add that to 2 to 4 hours of Supercross if I watch both classes and that is too much couch time for me.
Anyway, the top 5 450 class finishers this week in San Diego were as follows:
1. #18 Davi Millsaps (Suzuki)
2. #51 Justin Barcia (Honda)
3. #5 Ryan Dungey (KTM)
4. #7 James Stewart (Suzuki)
5. #22 Chad Reed (Honda)
Running Around
The excitement for today will be things like getting my 2 week hair-cut, taking Oggy down to get his nails trimmed at PetSmart, Raley's to get supplies to fill up our fridge and cabinets for the week. Then the usual loads of laundry, dishes and so on. At some point we will have time to catch up on a few shows that are sitting and waiting for us on the TiVo. Portlandia, Shark Tank and I have a SEMA show that was recording from this years event in Las Vegas, Nevada. The SEMA show is actually really dangerous for me to watch because it gives me the bug to want to build up an old car or customize a new one with some mod's, paint and related.
Exit
Time to refocus back on what is left to get done for the day. I want to be able to fly my AR.Drone again today to see if I can figure out why it was crashing on its own yesterday during my first couple test flights using the modified setup so it is controllable by a traditional RC 2 stick, 6 channel controller. If I cant get it to work properly I may have to swap back to the iPhone and/or iPad controller so it's at least functional.
As it sits now I don't trust flying it in an open area because of the fear of a "fly-away". Even if it did not take off on its own, there is still the inherit risk of breaking gears, propellers and so on which I would prefer not to do as that gets pretty expensive and takes a lot of time to get the parts sent. If I need to go back to the iOS as a controller I may have to bite the bullet and try out a new helicopter again. A friend of mine has one and it is not as hard as some of the older helicopters to fly, nor as sensitive to adjustments and related. Chore time . . . .
