Radio Control Day
So as I had hoped, today was a full day of messing around with my radio controlled goodies. I charged up the QR1 quadcopter first thing this morning so it would be ready for me to fly after I had some coffee. To my surprise it had to be charged via USB, I guess I should have read the description a little better because it tells you that little tidbit in several spots. Don't get me wrong its actually not a bad thing at all, it charges up pretty fast and the flight times are great as well considering. Not to mention you can charge 2 batteries at a time (and it comes with 2) so you can
First things first I flew the QR1 for it's first flight and it was a lot of fun. A little more unstable than I thought it would be but at the same time I was flying it in the garage so there is a lot of up and down which creates a lot of turbulence all around it in the small space. By the time I was on the second battery I was getting the hand of it much faster and by the 3rd and 4th I decided to turn on "expert" mode which was a great choice because it allows much quick turns, spins, banks and so on - essentially much more flyable. Tons of fun and makes me want to get another one, possible another brand and style just to have a few variations. Great time flying that's for sure.
Next I charged up 4 batteries for my Summit truck and headed out back for 2 full runs, about 15 minutes each or so. I forgot how much fun that truck is to drive. Our backyard is pretty big but when you have a truck that can run 40+ miles per hour even a good size yard gets small fast. No matter I climbed up some rocks, hauled ass around all of the shrubs and trees kicking up grass like a lawn mower without a bag and smiling ear to ear. I was running out of daylight so there was no time to be able to charge all 4 batteries again for a second run, bummer! I forgot to mention that my charger was not working properly this morning so I did have to use up 2 hours of my afternoon running down to the local hobby shop to pick up a new one. No big deal, I was just happy that they happened to have one on hand and at a great price!
Just before the sun went completely down I managed to get in 2 full flights with the AR.Drone as well, zero crashes, lots of hovering and flew the highest that I have yet. Not really that high, probably only 10 to 12 feet but with the house, patio lattice's, trees and of course the slight wind it gets hairy fast when you fly higher so I was happy with my flights. The drone takes forever to charge so there was no way I was going to be able to fly it again tonight so I called it a night.
Fun day all around. I should have been inside getting some stuff ready for our new furniture to show up this coming Friday as well as the builders showing up to build our new Tuff shed. I cant wait, it's going to be a lot of work getting everything organized in there but worth it. I want to get a bunch of the Pit-Pal racks, cabinets like I had in my race trailer to help organize it too. It's going to look really good and function even better.
Lunch
Stopped today to get some lunch at the local BK when I was coming back from getting the new battery charger and wow, was it slow! I felt bad for the peeps working because they were going as fast as they could, but there was only 4 of them and it seemed there was no real organization or workflow. Normally I could care less. I figure if someone is making you food, handing it to you and you had to do nothing then the least you can do is have a few patience no matter if it's a top notch restaurant or a fast food joint.
After that "meal" we decided that we needed something good tonight so we are making more filet Mignon, rice and veggies. Well to be fair Cicely is making it for us, I am just enjoying the awesome aroma in the house - mm-mm, cant wait, tasty!
See Ya' Round
Gotta enjoy the rest of the Saturday, we have a bunch of shows in the TiVo that we want to get to. It will be great snuggling up on the couch with a nice blanket and a full stomach watching shows. Cicely has been watching TV most of the day, well in between relaxing and messing around on the iPad watching YouTube videos. There has been an I Love Lucy marathon on all day and I think she has officially watched every episode, too funny - but good for her to have a slow day, she deserves it after her busy past few weekends.
Sounds like the steak and sides is just about done, time to wash up and chow down!
