Admit One

I have a feeling this might be one of the shorter posts that I have done to date. As mentioned long ago, I am ok with short posts, heck even posts that have a photo in them and a little blurb about what the photo is of, where it was taken or something like that counts. To me all photos tell a story and are interesting in some way, it just takes the person looking at it to recognize that. Sounds artsy fartsy I know, but hey its true!

Conch

Even though today's photo has nothing to do with the majority of my post other than the next couple paragraphs, I think its an interesting photo. I took this in St. Maarten near one of the beaches where this guy does "how to get the conch out of its shell" demonstrations for tourists. Conch demonstrations aside, I think his presentation and suggestion of "doing the right thing" and tipping if interested in watching was well played.

The sign and tip container was strategically placed in the narrow path so you felt guilty walking past without paying an admission you felt appropriate for the show. The location of this "box office" was juuust far enough away that you could see something was going on down by waters edge, but have no way to experience the details, excitement and laughter like those that paid.

To add to it, had you choose the "from afar" route, the presentation flowed in such a way that you would miss just enough of the good stuff. This again would emphasis that you should just bite the bullet, pay your dues and get up close to the action. Hats off to him for thinking his business through.

Weather

When all else fails talk about the weather right? I mean it's something we all have in common. The forecast is calling for rain in the valley and snow in the mountains starting today through the end of the week at least. At the time I am writing this the weather guessers have actually nailed it for a change. Since about 9:00 this morning it has been raining hard throughout the day and seems to only be letting up a tad every so often. I don't mind this weather, everyday would be a bit much while once in awhile is ok so long as the temperature stays warmer. I don't think there will be any shoveling or snow-blowing plans in my immediate future, this I am very happy about.

Oggy

One thing I feel I do have to brag about is what an awesome fuzzy kid I have. Throughout the day Oggy has looked out his doggy door to check how hard it was raining and whether or not he was going to attempt to go outside and do "business". As the rain has let up, he has jammed outside and taken care of things like a good boy. I just cant believe how smart he is when it comes to stuff like this. I mean I can, but at the same time people always complain about Chihuahuas and how impossible they are to train. Don't get me wrong, it was a lot of work and we have to continue to remind him so he stays on track but we are rewarded with his good behavior all the time. I am sold on the fact that its 90% the owners fault as most things that are negative and fuzzy kid related.

TV

Watched the new episode of Sons of Anarchy last night and it was great! I still have no idea how they will manage another season or two after all of the killing that has gone on this season. They have been eliminating a good deal of the main characters since the very first episode this time, but I am sure they will find a way to keep it going and interesting. Next week is the final episode for the season so it should be a good one. I am just bummed its going to be over, probably leaving us on a cliffhanger until next season. Most of our shows are coming to an end this month but I guess that gives us time to catch up on other things or empty the Netflix queue a little.

Speaking of the Netflix queue I have been plowing through Wilfred much faster than anticipated and I even managed to get Cicely hooked on it and its turning out to be a pretty good show. I had my doubts after an episode or two but hung in there and I am glad I did. Last night one episode had a throwback to the original Karate Kid movie, only a couple of lines and a few gestures but it was really friggin awesome. I doubt most would catch it.

Anyway, during a ping pong match between Ryan and Wilfred's owners boyfriend Wilfred yelled "get him a body bag yeeeeeah!" to Ryan, cheering for him to win due to his dislike for the other guy. In Karate Kid it took place during one of the national competitions where one of the "bad guys" was yelling the same thing to his teammate. Basically telling him to "do what it takes" to knock Daniel out of the competition.

Wilfred did the same gestures and everything it was cool. To be fair though, I missed it at first and it was Cicely that caught on to it right away, she is good like that. I really like it when shows do throw backs like that. Family Guy is one that seemed to always do it too. The nice thing is even if you miss them entirely, the show is still great. To me that is good writing on their part.

About It

I think that is about all for today. Depending on how the rest of the week plays out it may be more of the same. After all of the holiday fun, time off of work before that for vacation and then sort of getting back into the saddle two times in a row its to be expected. For me, its still much better than jumping into a raging bonfire of craziness!

All-in-all this ended up being much longer than anticipated although stuffed with fillers it's still some daily writing and that was the goal, so its progression in my book. Plus I was able to talk about a cool photo I took while on vacation and at the same time sort of relive the experience.
