Bye Bye Hostess

Yesterday essentially marks the end of Twinkies and Hostess products in general. My understanding is that the company was unable to recover from a bankruptcy after a drawn out strike from its employees. After a "swing for the fences "failed attempt to keep things going they could do nothing but close the doors. I know it seems trivial but its something we all grew up with whether we ate Hostess products or not and our kids and kids kids will never experience them. Whether viewed as a pro or con due to its unhealthy aspects its still a bummer in my book.

I am more of an orange cupcake, Ho-Ho and Chocodile fan, with Chocodile's being my all time favorite. All of which will be things of the past. I feel bad for all of the employees as well even though it appears they set it all in motion. Not only because it's so close to the holidays but because many have probably worked for Hostess the majority of their career.

The decision for Hostess to close the doors affects more than the Hostess employees of course and will have an impact from printing to shipping and distribution, marketing, advertising and so on. It's easy for some to say "good riddance" it was killing us anyhow, until they step back to realize the actual impact. Although who am I kidding, most of the self righteous would never do such a thing so long as topic "X" conforms to their agendas.

Ok that is probably more than enough about Hostess. In other news Cicely has her Indie-Reno workday today as mentioned yesterday so this gives us good reason to get up and moving so we can get down to Pegs Glorified ham and eggs for breakfast. I can't wait, I am hungry and the thought of a couple eggs over easy, strong coffee, bacon and potentially a side of corned beef hash is making my mouth water.

In weather news, no snow yet as was predicted by the weather guessers. It's has been raining off and on all morning and into the afternoon and as I write this its pretty dark outside and raining hard again. If the temperature drops just a bit we will be in for quite a bit of snow but its much too warm right now. My guess is that the snow will come next week when everyone is traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday. Always seems too, so why would this year be any different?

Mmm! Deep fried Twinkie's in Coke batter, gonna miss that carnival goodness!
