Bones Brigade

Today there is not much to write about actually. It was another nice day outside and in the 70's if you can believe that. I am still blown away by the amazing weather we have been having and hope we don't get hit with a gnarly winter because of it. I am digging being in shorts in late November!

Last night we stayed up playing games on our iPads and surfing the net after walking Oggy earlier in the evening so all in all it was a pretty mellow night filled with lots of time together and relaxation. Ok who am I kidding, last night was a bitch once I went to bed, here lemme explain.

4:00 although it all really started at 4:20 things got interesting

Unfortunately the peace and quite of the night that I was so happily referring to came to a halt, quickly turning into an extremely rough early morning, to put it lightly. Jumping right into the details, I managed to wake up out of a dead sleep around 4:00 with a headache that felt like a little miner was deep inside the right side of my face drilling outward. The pain radiated from just behind my ear all the way over to the bridge of my nose, just past my right eye. It was one of the worst headaches I can remember, yea even the hangovers of days gone by were much more forgiving and this was nothing like the churning of a migraine but more like pounding that would progressively increase in intensity until it would make my eyes water and ears ring only to break, then start back up again within 5 to 10 minutes.

Ok lemme back up just a tad. Initially when the "fun" began I had no choice but to get up once the first round of drilling was over and head to the bathroom to empty my bladder, then head to the kitchen to chug some water and apple juice. Assuming it was nothing more than a bad headache I figured it was smart to eat a couple Advil in hopes of going back to sleep and waking up this morning with it all a thing of the past.

Sorry no, not the case, I was back up out of bed within 10 minutes time, freezing cold, shaking but feeling like I was burning up if that makes any sense. I took my temperature as a precaution to see if it may be any indication of what was going on. To my surprise my temperature was near what they consider a hypothermia state at just over 94 degrees. Oh shxt I thought, this is going to be a long night, morning, umm suck fest!

From the time I looked at the clock and at what other time than 4:20 I kid you not, until close to 7:00 I was back and forth in the bathroom. My body was determined I was going to puke something up, my stomach had other plans and was holding on to all the leftover turkey and sides that it could. At one point I had a pretty good hurl session that only ended with my head pounding, me sweating and water pouring out of my eyes for some reason rather than feeling relief. I should also mention it was not the food either, I had eaten it before and Cicely ate the same stuff I did and was fine.

I should also take a moment to mention something about when I don't feel well. I am possibly one of the few that does this I would guess so I might as well try to explain. Basically when I don't feel well I have this "tick" I guess you could call it where I walk, more like pace. Pacing around makes me feel better and in-control I guess. So between 4:20 and 7:00 I was essentially doing laps around the house taking sips of water here and there as well as getting the thermometer put in my mouth on occasion by Cicely so we could monitor any progress good or bad. Sort of reminds me of a strange marathon or something. Stopping for a sip of water, handing off of things like the thermometer as I pass by Cicely and so on. Not really funny what-so-ever, but writing about it gets me thinking abstract I suppose.

Fast forward to some time around 7:00. I was doing another lap through the house heading down the hall but sort of on auto pilot and had I been out walking the line for a police officer at a DUI checkpoint I would have been deemed "drunk tank" material (again no drinking or anything in several days). So at this point Cicely was worried and wanted me to lay down on the couch for a few, I didn't want to with the fear of throwing up, but I had no choice, I was exhausted, freezing cold and could barely hold myself up to do more laps due to lack of energy. Almost immediately upon her wrapping me up in my favorite blanket and fluffing a pillow for me I was in a light but deep sleep if that makes any sense. It was strange because I could feel my body wanting to break the cycle that the headache had been running for nearly 2 hours but the battle continued on.

And Break

Somewhere around 7:00 my body had enough and I FINALLY fell asleep until 9:00 at which time I woke up craving Club crackers and sips of water. Those 2 hours felt likes less that 2 minutes but waking up to switch sides of the couch and eat a cracker or 2 was awesome, it might as well have been a choice cut of steak and glass of the finest wine. My body felt as though I had my ass kicked for hours straight and I was left with little to no strength or energy. I was ok with this because my head was no longer pounding and thankful it was over, what a night! We have no idea what caused it, we did not eat anything strange and anything we did eat we both pretty much ate so we are left with no answers but we are happy its all over and although tired today, I feel pretty good otherwise.

Bones Brigade

Oh yea the Bones Brigade! I was not going to write about my crazy night but once I got started I just went with it so I guess since I named this entry Bones Brigade I should talk a little about it.

After a crazy night, left feeling groggy when I woke up I thought it would be best to stay on the couch most of the day or morning anyway so I did. This gave me the green light to finally watch, well finish watching the Bones Brigade Autobiography I had purchase a week or two before we went on vacation. It was a really good movie and I learned a lot about all the guys that I had looked up to in my skater days. Its crazy to see and hear all of the stuff they had to go through when we all just assumed they were doing nothing but skating and making tons of cash. Both of which they did do, but not without struggle and heartache. Apologies in advance because I don't plan to write much more about it than that, but I think anyone that was a skater during that time should pick it up and check it out. For me, it was worth every penny of the $25 I think I spent on it. There were other options where you could get some retro gear, T-shirts and stuff but I opted for the movie only and I am satisfied with the purchase to the fullest!

That about sums up my Saturday with not a whole lot else in the books for the rest of the day. We may watch Men In Black III tonight. I am still playing this game on my iPad called "The Room" and I would like to be able to finish it. Its a little harder, well longer, than I anticipated so I am eager to see how it ends. Cicely is working on getting more inventory ready for upcoming holiday shows she will be participating in so there is plenty to keep us busy, although a movie break would be nice. Tomorrow is already the last day of our holiday weekend so I want to enjoy and relax as much as possible, dang time off goes by fast!

Wishing I was still a future primitive and I skated to live!
