First Day At Sea

First full day at sea, we are supposed to be in Princess Cays this morning but since it was hit so hard by the tropical storm Sandy we are skipping it and heading straight to St. Maarten, arriving about 2 hours early on Wednesday. Tomorrow (Tuesday) will be another full day at sea and hanging out.

Tonight is our first formal dinner night so that will be fun, getting dressed up and having dinner, wine and maybe hit the casino for a few. Now that I think about it we haven't done that in years, actually never as far as a tuxedo dinner. I am not wearing the typical tuxedo but more of a 3 piece suit of sorts, should look dam sharp.

Last night we stayed up late, until around 2:00 and ended up some of the last people on the ship to be up and moving around at that time as usual. It was nice though to walk around and check out the different areas of the ship when there are not a lot of crowds. We had to move the clocks forward today so that messed us up so our mental schedule is all screwy. We lost 4 hours Friday, then the time changed so we gained 1 hour, then this time change ahead 1 hour so we lost 1 again. Oh darn no where to be and I don't know the time, awesome!

We met a really nice couple last night in the library while walking around, I cant remember where they were from but they were really nice and were telling us about all of the places they have been in the U.S. and internationally, all of the books they have read and that sort of thing. Its crazy on ships or at resorts how people have a tendency to just open up to everyone no problem. At home most are as closed as the books in the library.

Today they are playing Men in Black 3 on the big screen at the theatre under the stars around the pool so we might try and catch that if we can eat in time, I think it starts at 12:15 so I don't think we will make it. Last night everyone was watching Sunday night football. There was a movie in the movie theatre as well, we watched it for a few minutes but it was so far in and we had no idea what movie it was so there was no point hanging out. Cool little theatre though. Lots of activities going on day and night so its hard at times to figure out what to do for the day. I am ok sitting around relaxing listening to the ocean.

As I type this there has been a guy in the cabin next door to us out on his balcony playing a flute of some sort and has been for the past couple hours. While its not bad sounding its a little pretentious to assume that we all want to listen to his same 1 or 2 songs over and over. Don't get me wrong, its a merry-time sea song he keeps churning out between smokers coughs, so its appropriate out on the open sea. Its just odd to me someone would do it in the first place and assume everyone wants to listen. If I were out there strumming a guitar with crazy rock and roll riffs I bet there would be complaints, not because I am unable to play but because people are not here to listen to me.

The captain came on the intercom earlier and said we may get a little rain later this evening or today but nothing much, might be a neat experience to be honest. Right now its 81 degrees and a little breezy.
