Windy

So today is an "eyes half open", sleepy day due to the fucking wind blowing and gusting last night, all night non-stop. Anyone that knows me knows how much I despise the wind. I know it has its purpose other than to piss me off -- yea, don't care. Between the 60 mph+ gusts, rain drops slamming the window which sounded like rocks and mounds of leaves swirling all night I think I managed about an hour sleep at best.

In most circumstances I thoroughly enjoy the rain as well as the Fall leaves on the ground (other than the raking and mulching they require) but never the wind. Possibly why I have never been interested in wind surfing or sailing I suppose. With the anger I have had towards the wind my entire life I would bet the universe and/or mother nature would have a payback hay-day should I be doing something that required the winds help. Although kite-boarding does appeal to me, go figure! Alright I think you get the idea and that is probably more than enough whining on the subject.

Today is a great day otherwise for many reasons. For starters I woke up and was given another day to enjoy so I will take it! It's also the day before Thanksgiving which is awesome, not to mention because of turkey day its also the day before a 4 day weekend. Generally I am annoyed by most things "holiday" due to the way its marketed and the pressures that are put on everyone to buy this, buy that rather than enjoy and appreciate those around you like family and friends you chose to spend time with. I think the majority of people get too wrapped up in buying the perfect gift or one-upping someone else s gift.

Even worse is the the religious craziness that goes along with many holidays such as Christmas for example. Meaning some of those peeps get the nuttiest about it all when they are supposed to be one of HIS children or whatever they believe. All of that is tossed aside when there is a sale at WalMart. Once that happens it seems the entire love one another attitude goes right out the door as they trample someone else to get dibs on that special priced Tickle Me Elmo. Sorry, actually I'm not sorry in the least, what I am is not religious. I am ok with everyone having beliefs, opinions or whatever, just leave me out of them. Don't pray for me, or try to save me - if you wanna help then help! Otherwise do what works for you and leave me to my own vices and demons.

Cicely and I stopped celebrating most all holidays many years ago and instead we spend that time with one another, with family or friends. My family has mostly done the same. We do still get gifts for the kids so they have something to look forward to and enjoy the day but its certainly never the focus. The idea is to have more of a catching up on the well being of one another, see how life has been going and so on. Maybe go old school and break out a few board games and enjoy a few hours doing that. Jump into a few games on the Nintendo Wii with nephews, sisters and parents. There is generally an abundance of great food, booze and conversation. This is what I enjoy the most and it really takes a lot of the pressure off of the holidays. To me, that's what matters most, not how much stuff I give or receive.

Whew, I better stop there or this will be a mile long. If anyone actually ever reads my blog blurbs I am sure I will piss off more than a few -- more on the topic closer to Christmas most likely. It has a way of getting under my skin year after year along with all of the New Years crap everyone buys into.

Deep breath and changing the subject, you can thank me later.

In work news we are getting out 1/2 day because of the holiday! Woo-hoo, how friggin' cool is that news? Pretty dam cool if you ask me. Unfortunately Cicely and I come in a little later so we will have to stay a little longer to make up the time. Really its not required, but I just think its the right thing to do and to not take advantage of a good situation, because in reality we are still getting out a lot earlier so its a win-win in my book.

Depending on the time we decide to leave work we are going to get some late lunch, possibly at PHO if they are not too busy, and then hit the movie theater to see Wreck-It Ralph as we had planned to do if the showtimes work out. Should be a fun movie and a great way to spend a Wednesday afternoon!

Last night we watched another episode of Sons of Anarchy. I think there are only 2 more episodes scheduled for this season. It's not supposed to be the last season from what I had read online, but earlier in the season last year I heard this was the final. I hope not, but all good things have to come to an end right. They have managed to kill off the majority of the main characters and those that remain are nearly dead so it will be cool to see what direction they take it all. I never thought I would get into a show like this as much as I have, I have never been a big Harley or biker type guy. I have owned and ridden a lot of bikes and those never really appealed to me for some reason. Although I will say, I have went on rides with my pops and borrowed one of his Harley's and they are surprisinlgy comfortable with a good powerband. The hardest part for me was getting use to the weight of them compared to dirt bikes and sport bikes.

I think that is about it for today. I dont have much of a picture to post that really relates to all of my griping and the holidays at the moment so today's photo is of my aweseome dog Oggy. Now before you go off on me about animal cruelty, first fuck off you dont know me, and second he is a good boy and I would never do anything do harm my fuzzy kid. Dont forget, he gets a nice treat when he allows us to play "circus dog" with him and I did not see him turning his nose up at the freshly cooked nibbles of bacon he was given for being a good sport. His ears are not down because he is scared, its so he can better balance the foam, he is smart like that. Love you Oggy!

Photo: Not a rabbit with a pancake on its head, but my awesome Chihuahua, Oggy, with a stack of foam pancakes on his head. What a good boy! Thanks Oggy for being such a good sport!
