Two Hours On The Trainer

After an afternoon of sledding yesterday, followed by naps for the entire family then dinner at Outback Steakhouse today was a much different day in every single way.

The snow melted just as quickly as it had come overnight and Zoey's sled was put away just as fast as it had been taken out only hours before. The sun was out from the time I woke-up until it settled behind the mountains for the day.

Don't misunderstand, we are not back to our springlike weather of weeks gone by, though according to the weather guessers we are on our way to more of the same in the coming days. All we can do is sit back and go along for the ride.

Cycling

It was just about dry enough to get out on the road today and put in a few miles on the road bike, unfortunately it was still a little bit too cold for my blood and I wanted to be close to home not knowing what the weather was planning to do for certain this afternoon.

Instead I jumped onto the trainer and went for my longest spin to date on it. At just over 2 hours and 21 minutes I was able to get in a tad over 37.5 miles. It was a nice ride, had my music cranked up and I was personally very much in the zone, focused and pedaling along.

The stupid derailleur is still giving me some grief and from what I have heard and/or read it's pretty much par for the course with the model that I have. It's super friggin' annoying to say the least and really throws me out of my mode when it starts screwing up. No matter I was able to tweak it enough to get it working smoothly enough to allow me to get well over 30 miles in for the day. I think that is a very respectable number.

Otherwise

Not much else going on. Cicely has been working to get the house ready for the birthday party this weekend for Zoey. The big one year old mark, wow did that go by fast! Yes, I realize that I have said it many times already, it's true!

Quite a bit more to still do though and I am not sure if she plans to work on it some tomorrow or play the last minute game this weekend before everyone gets here. I sure hope that it's not the game of last minute, that is never any fun. Honestly I don't even know if she has received any RSVP back yet or not. We did not invite that many people so I would think all of those that were going to be invited and that received cards would have done so by now.

Oh well, whether everyone shows up or only a few of the invitees it will be a great day for Zoey!

Photo: Snapped this shot just before finishing up my ride for the day. I think I only ended up with maybe 1/10 more of a mile and a few more feet of elevation. Nice ride, I could have probably even went a little further, I was in the zone.
