Well here we are once again sitting at the top of a brand new work week. It's nice out today as well (of course it is right?), with little to no wind, something I would have loved to have had yesterday while cruising around town on my road bike. Oh well take the good with the bad and use yesterday's windy spin as a good workout to make me stronger for the days without wind. In a weird way it's nicer than the 90°+ weather rides.
Sore Nips
Yep you read the title of this paragraph correct and are free to skip the rest if you are already embarrassed or feeling awkward. Otherwise lets dive right into it and move on.
Being male I have not experienced the things that women do, or at least those things I hear that they do. Sore boobs from running, back aches from the weight of their boobs, soreness from breastfeeding and everything in-between.
Today I can officially and embarrassingly say that I have in fact experienced one of their breast related issues - chapped, chafed, red, sore nipples. Okay more along the lines of nipple, my left one to be exact. Yep, there it is on the Internet for everyone to read and see. Go ahead and poke fun if you want, your time will come and if not thank your lucky bits.
It could be worse, I have heard of men getting chafed tips of their um, yep that part. Same with women getting chafed downstairs. Thankfully I am only getting a small taste of it as a sort of 'heads-up' for next time.
I have a new pair of bib-shorts that I picked up on Friday and they were the root cause of this. I have never experienced it before and I have various styles and qualities of them. On the flip side, the chamois on these are flippin' outstanding, dare I say the best I've owned to date?
The crazy thing is that the brand is one I don't always look at, even turn my nose to at times and I really dunno why? Maybe the brand feels cheap to me because it's everywhere? Or the fact that it's so mainstream because it's an accessory line that TREK owns if I am correct. At the same time, I own a bike headlight from this same company and guess what, it's my favorite as well.
Anyway, great shorts although a crappy shoulder strap material that is a thin mesh material, for venting purposes I'd imagine, although it works like a cheese grater on your nipples especially when it's colder out and your nipples poke out to see what's going on, male or female, unless you have inverted nipples or little to no nipples at all.
In the future I suppose I will have to throw a band-aid on them or use a little lotion or chamois cream. Thankfully most rides are not as cold and it should not be a problem. I will still buy the shorts again I think even so, they are just that good in every other way!
Cubed
So that's about it for today I don't have a whole lot else to rabble about. The weekend was pretty good and the ride yesterday was great. The sore nipples can easily be remedied with little bit of lotion or cream and I should be fine. Just part of it and something that I know better now for next time and so do you!
Photo: For some strange reason this is where my head is today - way up high in the clouds. Not sure if it's an 'exercise hangover' or spring fever. Either way it's still a cool photo in my opinion. Took it out the top of Cicely's cars roof. The entire top opens, it's very cool and Zoey loves it too!
