Happy First Birthday (Party) Zoey!

Today was a very successful day in every way for Zoeys very first birthday party. Everyone showed up and I think had a really good time hanging out and seeing Zoey and each other.

We had a ton of snacks for everyone to fill up on and enjoy while also enjoying conversation, wine, water or a soda. Once everyone was here and Zoey was up and ready to begin we started opening presents slowly but surely.

We end up getting stuck in-between each present because Zoey loves to play with the tissue paper as much as possible until we finally are able to work it away from her and then introduce the next gift to be able to distract her from the one we just took away.

Generally this works out really well although today she was on to us much more than normal so we had to be extra quick and have something in front of her before she had a chance to get pissed and start whining for more paper.

Cycling

I was able to go for a ride today on my new bike and it was a real blast. I can't believe how stable it is and how fast I felt riding it. I did overdo it a little bit I think at one point because I was a little spent afterwards. No sweat though, a few minutes of recovery and I was back on the road again getting use to the bike again putting some miles on it.

I need to make a few adjustments to the bike to get everything feeling a little more comfortable and how I like it. I think the seat may still be a little bit high although I may not be able to lower the post much more according to the guy at the bike shop today.

I think I am in need of a shorter stem as well. Not by much really, I think I am around an inch longer right now than I am use to on my current Sensium 400 road bike. I will probably try and order a shorter one on my own instead of going through the bike shop, mostly to save me a trip out there to the shop even though I probably have to go out there this week anyhow to pick up my new helmet that was on back order even though it said it was in stock when input in the order a few weeks back.

Anyway I ended up being able to cycle almost exactly 15 miles because I was limited in time. I had to get back to the most important thing this month, my little girls first birthday party.

Shop Trip

After everyone had enough cupcakes and food they started leaving and were gone within a half hour or so. I think everyone stayed for nearly 3 hours which was great. I figured everyone would leave much sooner than that because I'm sure that they had plans for the remainder of their Saturday afternoon.

I had to head out to the bike shop and pickup my other bike so I could have one on the trainer. I would not put my Ferrari bike on the trainer, I mean I guess I would but it would require too many trainer upgrades and then having that awesome bike on the trainer seems like such a waste of awesome that I can't do it.

The last time the bike was out there they screwed up the thing pretty bad and many of the cables were not functioning as they should be which affected the shifting on both levers although the right one the most which is in charge of the rear dérailleur moves. I won't even get into it other than I will never, never ever, ever ever buy another transmission that is not Shimano or Campangello.

All should be good now I hope. If not then I am not sure what the heck I am going to do. I am considering getting another new bike from the for something like only $1500, marked down from over $2,200. The only problem is that it's a 2014 model year although that is fine because it's for the trainer. If I ride the one I just picked up on the trainer for a while and it's running good then I may not lay down the cash for another.

Although I am not going to sit here and lie to you by saying how much better it will be, it will never compare to the awesomeness of my new bike.
