Obviously from the title of my post Monday is upon us and the weekend shot by like a bullet. They seem to always do that whether you are busy doing a hundred things or even when they are mellow like this past weekend was.
As usual I did in fact have a ton of things on my to-do list plate and only manage to accomplish a very small amount of them. Hey I wont be too hard on myself about it because getting a few things done is better than getting zero done and only adding to the list.
Kiddo
So baby Zoey was a little fussy throughout the night last night and even into this morning and neither Cicely or I could put our finger on exactly what it was that was causing it. She had a clean diaper, was fed, warm and so on. The only conclusion we can come up with when this happens is that she is just getting bored and needs some stimulation.
I don't blame her, after 9 months in that confined space only to be let out and have everyone carry you so all you see is the ceiling which is not very interested. We just need to find out what makes her tick when it comes to that and wear her out a little through stimulation. She is too young to be into her toys but at least we are ready when she is!
My hope is that today she will be better and both her and Cicely will be able to get some much needed and in Cicely's case deserved rest. There is a lot of work still to be done at home like a massive load or 2 of dishes, laundry, appointments, phone calls and on and on. You get the idea I'm sure and can now better understand why I want her to chill more often.
Lawn Care
I did have plans to dethatch the lawn but because it was aerated last week I figured that it will be in my best interest to wait a week and let the plugs that were pulled up break down a little bit more. Otherwise I don't know if the dethatcher will break them up enough and even if they do I will end up raking a large percentage of them up with the thatch, essentially defeating the purpose of both.
At the same time I am a little nervous to use the dethatcher in the first place and the reason I am going to start with the back yard - in case it gets really ugly or I happen to screw up part of it I wont have it on display for the neighborhood.
In past years when we dethatched the lawn we took care of the work 100% manually with this rake thing they sell at the big box home improvement stores. While it works really good once you get the hang of it, it's a total pain in the ass and about kills you by the time you are done with the project. Not to mention that once you are done using the dethatcher rake you are only about 1/3 of the way done with the project. Just as your lower back and arms are out of energy and starting to get sore or if you get a nice sunburn to go along with it as I did last time (and yes I had a ton of lotion on which is odd that I still managed to get burnt).
Anyway as I was saying, you will still need to use one of the large leaf rakes to get all of the thatch into nice rows of piles - at least that was how we did it - then picked up and finally bagged in those big ass lawn bags. My yard is big, well the back is, the front is average size I think, any I think we filled up 3 or 4 of those huge professional size lawn bags - no joke!
Last season I don't think I would have been able to complete the project as good as I did and as fast as I did if it were not for Cicely helping me. She did a lot of the raking while I was using the dethatching rake and then we would tag-team the bagging process.
Bail Out
Alright, I think I will call this entry done for today. I really don't have much else to rabble about and I do have a lot of work on my plate that requires my attention. Nothing "urgent" per say but more the fact that I want to get it done because it has dependencies that I don't want to hold up so it can then come back to me -- yea if you guessed that I am still doing mid-year reviews and will be for the next 30+ days or so, then you guessed correct - gold star for you!
With that have a great day / start of the week if today is your Monday. For those of use that have companies who observe Good Friday then you probably have a short week like I do. I like that, only have to work 4 days! Then next week only have to work 3 because I have school Thursday and Friday so I can get one class closer to finishing my management program! OK for real this time, I am outta here for today!

Photo: You know it's Monday when you miss a front and center parking spot, damn! No worries though I probably would have parked further out anyhow as usual, I enjoy the walk when it's so nice out like today.
