Hitched

This week is blazing by at light speed for some reason. Generally that would be a good thing, signifying that I have been not only busy but productive and made good use of the time. I guess the saying "time flies when you are having fun" can apply even if you don't realize you are having fun!

Towing Stuff

Yesterday, after years of consideration and back and forth I finally pulled the trigger on a trail or hitch for the Sportage. It's main and probably only purpose for the remainder of the one year that I have the car will be to tote the new mountain bike around. It has been a long time coming but a difficult decision because I don't want to mess up the lines of the car or introduce the dreaded "hitch rattle" that happens from time to time on my model with the turbo charger and dual exhaust.

Thankfully it has happened enough that there is a lot of data out on the internet on how to make adjustments and fix it. Seems really easy and so does the install itself. I do have to drop the dual exhaust down from the frame of the car which has me a little worried, but from what I have read and can tell it too is not that big of a deal so long as you follow the instructions.

I am really stoked with the company I bought the hitch from - etrailer.com. They have such an amazing support team that is knowledgeable and they have products in stock and generally ship them within hours of purchasing. I look forward to the hitch getting here and installing it. Then I have to decide what hitch mounted bike rack to get - etrailer.com has been awesome helping me with that as well so my choices are narrowed down to some of the best.

Boiled Over

Anyway I think that is about all out of me for today. I am typing this late in the afternoon and almost forgot to take care of it to be honest. I have not mentioned lately that I have been using a Fitbit for the past couple weeks and am really enjoying knowing my activity level - more on that later though. One issue I am having that I will mention is that it seems to not accurately calculate my calories burned. I know there are some caveats with the way it does this, but its way off. Again, more on that later - I want to get home and see my wife, kiddo and fuzzy kid!
