Well holy crap is all that I can say followed by "what the hell did I do to deserve a spur of the moment jackhammer pounding headache around 3:00 yesterday afternoon"?
Yea you read it correct, a little while after my workstation died yesterday I was getting things back to working order so I would not be dead in the water on Monday. Figured it may be a few days until I get a new battery backup so I would plan ahead.
Anyway when I bent over and picked up the dead battery backup I stood up and my head started pounding like a jackhammer was dueling with a freight train - OUCH! and NOOO! It's Friday, I don't want to deal with this now that I am on "my time" and want to go home to enjoy the weekend and family, ugh!
Well unfortunately no pills were touching the headache and it was only pounding worse by the time I made it home. Only now it was also making me nauseous which is the last thing you want on your mind with a pounding head like I had.
Needless to say I still tried to enjoy the evening, play with Zoey and Oggy as well as watch a little TV with both of them and Cicely. Around 1:00 AM I had enough and decided to go to bed in hopes all would be better in the morning.
Unfortunately when I was woken up at 4:30 AM the headache was just as bad if not worse in a different way. More on "why" I was up at that time in the next part of today's entry.
What Goes Down....
So the old saying of what goes up must come down only applies to things not newborn related. Last night Zoey was crying, fussy and crowning (looking for a boob basically) after she had her 9:00 PM bottle. So I suggested Cicely give her 1 more ounce because Zoey was not interested in the pacifier, singing, playing or anything of the sort. She was interested in latching on to her fingers, fist, my neck, Oggy, anything so I figured this was so obvious and it had to be an "I'm still hungry" issue as it has in the past.
Cicely thought about it and against her better judgement took my advice and gave Zoey more bottle with a couple ounces in it knowing kiddo would not eat it all. She was correct and Zoey only ate about an ounce more +/-. I was proud that I interpreted the cry accurately and Cicely was happy that baby was happy and we went on with our night. Cicely messing around on her iPad, me fighting a headache and watching a show on the Discovery channel and both Oggy and Zoey snuggled up to Cicely as they both started to fall asleep.
Shortly after was when I decided to turn in for the night and did just that. Grabbed Oggy and took him in with me knowing that Cicely and baby would be in soon. Well they ended up falling asleep on the couch and not coming to bed until 4:15 or so in the morning.
I was not aware but FINALLY everyone was in bed, comfortable and asleep. I will say that those must have been the best 15 minutes of sleep we all had because we woke up to projectile vomit spraying like a loose hose onto the bed and Cicely. Thankfully Oggy was under the blankets and protected and I was far enough away to avoid any of the baby shrapnel.
This explosion had the exact outcome you probably already imagined. Zoey screeched, Cicely jumped up, Oggy ran and I woke up confused and head pounding. We all regained our composers, cleaned up the puke so Oggy would not try to do so for us, and headed out to the living room.
Cicely, Zoey and Oggy sat together on the couch once again while I drank water and planned my next attack on the headache. Would it be a cold pack, aspirin, juice or what? Looking through the cabinet I found a brand new box of goodness I had picked up a few months back for a just in case moment. Well here I was, ready to try it out.
The box was filled with packs of effervescent tablets better known as Alka-Seltzer, unfortunately not the lemon lime flavored ones. No matter it was a great find so I mixed up a packet of 2 and choked it down in hopes that it would help. By this time Cicely, Zoey and Oggy were asleep on the couch. I walked over and sat down, reclined back and surfed the net for a few until my eyes started getting heavy. I closed the laptop, rolled to the left and was finally asleep.
Thankfully the next time I woke up it was on my own even if only 3 hours later. Oggy was ready to eat, Zoey would be up any moment ready to eat and I wanted some coffee. Shortly after all of those things happened and once again the 3 of them were back asleep on the couch. Thankfully this time baby did not have any extra bottle so when everyone woke up again it was much less eventful, well other than a stinky diaper they have me to work on.
Oh and I am happy to report that the Alka-Seltzer worked pretty dam good. My headache is around 85% gone as I write this and I am considering taking one more for safe measure and to be sure it goes away the rest of the way. Decisions, decisions.
BBQ'ing Batteries
I was at a friends house yesterday over our lunch because he wanted to go out test his newly repaired 600 size helicopter. He asked if I was interested I go as well as if I would mind taking video of him flying. Um?, heck yea I wanna go! Fridays I don't always go to the gym because it's my "bonus" day so I had the extra time as well, cool.
Anyway fast forward to us over at his house getting his gear together. We had the giant heli, camera equipment, transmitter and now just needed to get the one battery that was charged and ready for the test, located in the garage for safety of course. Well when we went into the garage it was obvious he was not only really into the hobby but that he was not that into barbecuing and was a bachelor because most wife's would not go for the BBQ put of batteries shown in the photo below.
Granted, I know that my wife would understand and be entirely OK with me doing something like this as well, but I think you can follow and understand the point I am trying to make is that 90% would be vocally opposed to the idea.
No matter, I could not help myself and simply had to point it out to him and have a quick laugh and of course immediately take a photo of it.
Thanks for the laugh and being a good sport while I picked on you about it Aaron, now that's dedication to the hobby! Although I would suggest closing the lid of the BBQ before you bring any ladies in through the garage.
Photo: The "battery pit" over at a friends house. Based on the clean, shined grill I almost think this was purchased for this specifically rather than BBQ'ing.
