Shiny New Week

Well shxt, would'nt I cant believe the long weekend is gone and it's Monday once again and time to tear that band-aid we know as "the long weekend" off nice and fast and prepare to dive back into the work week.

It was a really nice 3 days off, 3.25 actually because we got out of work a little early on Thursday last week which was much appreciated. We don't always get to do that so when we do we all enjoy it to the fullest of course. It use to be more of an expectation from many that we would get to leave early so a lot of peeps would come in and only "sort of" work up until that point because of lack of focus. The company solved that by not letting us go every single time we had a big weekend coming up etc., to keep us on our toes I suppose.

Well it worked but thankfully in the game studios we have a little bit more freedom than they do in other areas of the company so we can make our own decisions when it comes to things of this nature. Our director values family and a life/work division so he tries to get our asses out of there as often as he can because he knows that we put in the hours. Anyway, all that is behind us now and it's time to put on our creative hats and dive back into work until the next long weekend comes our way!

Birth Certificates

This morning Cicely has to go to one of her followup doctor appointments to verify all is well now that it's been 6 weeks since having baby. She will need to get her "fit for duty" form fill out and signed by the doctor as well so she can return to work next month. I have to say, it has been really nice with her at home because I know that baby is safe and that Cicely is with her bonding.

If it were not so difficult to find work I would love for her to be a stay at home mom for a few years if she wanted to do so. Problem is, in our industry it's not easy to get back into when the business is as competitive and ever expanding as it is now.

Anyway, today she will go to the appointment and then has to run downtown to turn in the a application for Zoey's birth certificates. I could have done it all online but I from what it said it looked as though you only get those photo copy type certificates. We want the real ones that have the seal and all of that on them.

Just like everything else government related it's a long wait to get them and they cost $20 per certificate. Not an unreasonable fee but for some parents I imagine that cost is just one more thing to add to the stress and financial struggles of being a new parent.

I on the other hand like to plan ahead so we were ready for 98% of all the financial stuff that came our way. Because of this we are getting 2 birth certificates just in case something happens to one of them through the years.

I did not have a clue where mine was for many years and had to hurry and get it so I could get a passport. Thankfully my dad had it in his safe deposit box. Otherwise you have to order them online and they send you a copy and again, it takes forever to get.

Right now I am in the process of renewing my passport and am nervous about it making it back to me. Namely because you have to send your old passport, money, documents and I think a birth certificate again even for renewal but I could be wrong on that. I simply don't want them to lose my old passport. It has stamps in it from when I went to Japan, Mexico and so on. More memories than anything else so I want it back to for that reason.

Update: The birth certificate office let Cicely and Zoey in by the seat of their pants! The place has some really strange hours and days that they work. Of course they are only open weekdays but during those weekdays they are closed on Tuesday and Thursday. On the other days that they are open, they are closed between the hours of 12:45 and 2:00, then they close for the day at 4:30. Thankfully she showed up at 10 minutes before noon and they let her in, she had the paperwork done and ready, added it to the system and I think we are set. Now we just wait for it to show up in the mail.

Rinse

Alright put a fork in me, it's time to get back to the tasks at hand and get this day under way. I look forward to the end of the week because I have school on Thursday and Friday which is always fun and educational of course. I can't wait for it to be done to be perfectly honest simply because it's just "one more thing" on my plate. Can't think about that right now, I am literally only 1/3 complete at the moment.

Have a great week! Hopefully you had a great Easter and long weekend if you were off for Good Friday like we were. Until tomorrow, have fun!

Photo: Here is the panoramic photo I took of the backyard Friday after dethatching. Said it before, will say it again, wow that was a lot if work! But looks dam nice now!
