No matter how many times I hit the snooze button to silence the alarm. No matter how hard I tried to not acknowledge the room getting brighter from the sunrise, Monday was already here and I had to accept it.
Up And Moving
Eventually I gave-in to my better judgement and I was up and out of bed with the fuzzy kid, Oggy, walking by my side. Oggy seemed to be feeling the effects of a Monday but was still taking care of his morning shakes and stretches as I rubbed my eyes and yawned.
We both headed down the hallway with our own agendas in mind. Oggy's was to take one last stretch before heading out the doggy door to go pee and mine was to head into the kitchen to boil water for my habitual large cup of pour over brewed coffee.
Sleeping Beauties
To our surprise the girls, Cicely and Zoey were on the couch snuggled up and sound asleep. Cicely heard Oggy go out the doggy door and look up to me as I ask "were you two out here all night!", to which she replied, "yea".
Well that is weird I though and asked why they did not come join Oggy and I in the nice warm bed? I guess Zoey was a little fussy around 1 AM and did not want to sleep but did want to lay next to Cicely on the couch. In these situations we are quickly learning that you need to pick and choose your battles carefully. This was one of those times to simply give in and get through the night.
Although Oggy and I missed the added warmth and coziness in bed I for one am thankful they managed to get a good night sleep on the couch as did Oggy and I in bed. Too bad we did not realize we had the bed all to ourselves though, we could have totally sprawled out and really enjoyed it!
Reviews
So once at work today the majority, if not all of my day is going to consist of me doing reviews, then setting up times to review the reviews and goals with each member of my team. It sounds like an easy process on paper, in reality it's much more time consuming and difficult. Trying to align goals and percentages for everyone as an organization but allow each individual to have their own, well, individual goals is fairly difficult.
The added difficulty this year is that not only are we already behind schedule on them by 3 months, it's also my first year doing them for my team and pushing them down to everyone.
I was not terribly worried initially because my direct supervisor has done them for years and would have been able to easily mentor me through them. Unfortunately as I posted mid last week he is no longer with the company.
This means it's prime time for me to do what I do best. Jump in with both feet, fully commit and run with it. I imagine it's not as hard as I am thinking it is. I know it's time consuming and a scheduling juggling act but I will and can get through it no problem.
