This And That

So far this weekend has been really nice and uneventful for the most part. I mean I am not saying that it has not been enjoyable and relaxing because it has. I think it's because the weeks prior to this past week have been so crazy that now that things have slowed down in a blink it almost feels like a standstill.

Trust me, I will take every second of it and do my best to enjoy and value it while I can. Even though Zoey gets up and is fussy at times because she is hungry or needs a diaper change that is no big deal. The days of her getting up at the crack if dawn for holidays or to simply watch cartoons will be here before we know it and our days of sleeping in until 7 or 8 on the weekends will be over.

Not to mention that if she is anything like me she will have a hard time only spending time in the house. She will either want to go places like the park or might be part of activities that interest her. I have watched family and friends run around to make this happen for their kids and while very rewarding and good for the kids, it does take a lot of patience, planning and at times choreography to make it all happen. I suppose with only one it may be a little easier to manage? I guess we will find out eventually!

Menu

On the menu today is nothing more than us planning to run to Home Depot for a few things that I need to get. Yea owning a home there is ALWAYS something you need at Home Depot it seems. I honestly never fully understood how such a big corporation could stay in business especially at a time when there were so many new homes being built I figured they would not need anything new or replaced for many years at best. Maybe the occasional thing but nothing that requires a home improvement mega store. Boy was I wrong!

Once done we need to hustle over to Bed Bath & Beyond as well to get a NutriBullet that I have been wanting to pick up for quite some time. I had originally considered the Vitamix personal blender because we own and love our Vitamix blender but the $500 price tag compared to just over $100 for the 900 watt pro NutriBullet makes the decision much easier for obvious reasons.

Sure there are actually even less expensive models out there by companies that have been around for ever but they just don't hold up and/or blend quite the same for the price. It sounds odd to anyone that has never made drinks in a similar manner that you would in a traditional juicer only without losing the fiber. It's really not that simple at all and requires a strong, hi-rpm blade and a blade that is purpose built for the task like the bullets are.

I really enjoy the drinks either for breakfast, an afternoon post gym snack or after walking in the door before dinner. It's much better and almost as easy as grabbing that handful of chips. Problem is, with the juicer or the Vitamix the cleanup helps you to fail before you even begin. You think about that and the preparation and the next thing you know is that you have polished 1/2 a bag of something you should not have and plan to do the healthy drink tomorrow. It's too bad that sometimes that promise to yourself never comes to fruition.

I on the other hand am stubborn and will do it, but will not enjoy the task of clean-up once done. The effort is almost not worth the reward to be honest. I mean it is 100% but day in and day out it's not an easy way to start a "habit" which is what is required for most. If you can't easily make it a part of your everyday routine, chances are you have already failed before you begun.

Otherwise

I think that is about it for today's rabble rabble. My dad is planning to swing by at some point and pick up some plywood and 2x4 shelf brackets I have left over from my shed build last summer. Then I may take the time to put my new lawn dethatcher together.

I have to put flags in the yard to mark sprinkler heads because the guys are coming out to aerate tomorrow and that is the reason for the assembly of the dethatcher. It's best to do right after you have the lawn aerated. The last time I dethatched I did it manually, well Cicely and I did and it's something I will never do again if I can help it!

NASCAR is on as well I just don't know if I will have time to watch it or not today. I want to work in my 3D printer build as well. Wow, I guess I have more on my "would like to do list" than I realized for today. I better get to it, enjoy your Sunday whatever you might be doing!

Photo: Some fruit from the Editable Arrangement that I had sent to Cicely for her birthday on Friday. As luck would have it, her mom sent her the same thing! Thankfully a different arrangement.
