Almost No Sleep

For some reason I was up at the friggin' crack of dawn today and not able to go back to sleep even though I was still feeling dead tired while drinking my coffee. Heck not that I like to admit it, but I even stayed up until nearly 2:00 AM so I would be extra tired and around 1:15 AM I took a small swig of ZzzQuil which usually helps me not only sleep like a rock but allows me to sleep-in for at least a little extra, maybe an hour even.

On top of all of this it was a long day at school yesterday so I took a nap around 5:00 PM which felt great. Shortly after waking up it started raining outside and continued for the remainder of the evening and into the night and was still pouring pretty good around the time that I called it a night and went to bed. Generally all of this is the perfect recipe for a great, long night sleep.

Maybe it will all catch up to me and I can either take a nice nap today or worst case be worn out enough by the end of today that I will crash hard and be able to enjoy the Saturday night into Sunday morning slumber.

Fashion Show

So today around 2:30 it will be just me, Oggy and the kiddo for the evening and into the night. Cicely has a fashion show that she is designing all of the jewelry for and is also going to have a booth setup to sell jewelry at after the show is over.

I am pretty sure that this is the first show she has participated in where this has been the case. Normally the audience has to search out the things they see and want on their own by either looking up the designers on the web or getting a card from designers after the show.

I hope that this proves to be a huge success for her. At the same time I hope it's a nice break for her to be able to get away from the duties of motherhood. She has been doing that non-stop for the past couple months with very little downtime of her own.

She is such a creative person she needs her mind to unwind like that and release some of the creativity that builds up. She has so many great and unique ideas I am surprised they are not spilling out of her ears half the time!

Initiated By A 7 Week Old

So finally having some kiddo time to myself for a change was definitely a new experience today. Cicely left around 2:30 this afternoon that means me, Oggy and Zoey had been alone together for about 3 hours when I first woke her up to get her a fresh warm bottle.

Rather than leave her sitting in her MomaRoo swing I figured I would carry her around a little bit and let her wake up as she was being held and that might be a little more enjoyable. I think it was but may have been a little bit overstimulating because she decided to do a hiccup-burp-sneeze combo-thing all at once. This did nothing more than cause her to blow cottage cheese baby formula chunks all over me, herself and the kitchen.

This required an immediate cleanup as well as a change of clothes. I know better though and I figured I would just feed her with her being a little wet in those clothes just in case she had another accident.

It's a good thing that I decided to do that because while I was feeding her not only did she do the normal spit-ups a few times, but she also decided it was the ideal time to take a major dump and fill up her little diaper so much that it had nowhere else to go except to blow out the side and into my left hand - better than the couch or other more difficult things to wash.

At that point it was obviously time to get up and go change her into some fresh clothes as well as get myself cleaned up. I had just been slimed with cottage cheese spit-up from one end of the baby as well as a pasty green poo from the other end of the baby.

The funniest part is, well not really funny but more like the most ironic part was that Cicely texted me minutes after all of this took place and I had baby cleaned up and was just getting ready to clean myself up a little more. Her text read "so how's it going?".

You can imagine what I would've liked to say but you can rest assured that I answered it very honestly but in such a way so that mama would not worry. Let's be realistic here, really it's not that big of a deal it was just kind of like "holy cow this must be my official initiation and now I am part of the parent club and an official member". If not officially a member for some reason then I am going to take my stinky sour milk spit up T-shirt to their next meeting and prove that I deserve to be a part of the dam club, LOL!

Spilled Milk

So as the saying goes "don't cry over spilled milk", I guess at the same time "you can't cry over spit-up milk and blown out diapers" either.

I think that this will have to be the end of my entry for today. I can't imagine any more crazy happenings will come my way but you never know, the day still has a long way to go.

Until next time, I hope your weekend has been full of much less bodily fluids than mine. If not that could very well mean that you are a new mom or new dad as well. So in that case all I can say to you is "welcome to the club".

Photo: Drinks that Cicely bought for us to try, all lined up in rainbow order. I would not expect anything less from her! And she says I am the "compulsive-anal-retentive" one in the marriage!
