Hoppy Easter

Well as I'm sure everyone is aware, today Easter Sunday, happy Easter everyone! I hope you have had a good time with friends and family as well as have had a visit from the Easter bunny for the little boys and girls that brush and floss all year round and have been good.

Lawn Care

So first things first - I was not able to talk yesterday in detail about the lawn maintenance we had done at the house. We had our usual company come by and take care of cleaning up all of the bushes and shrubs as well as blowing and edging everything. Normally I take care of all this myself but over the past four or five years most out of the bushes and shrubs have really gotten out of hand. I am 110% happy that I went with our usual company. They do such an amazing job with everything they do that I should not have been surprised what a great job they did on this project.

The name of the company is Vital-N-Green. They are a smaller company but have been around for many years. From what I can tell and I believe that it's only family that both owns and works there so it consists of sons and dad and maybe even grandpa I'd assume. I will say one thing without hesitation is that they all have the right idea on how to run a business and how to take care of their customers. There are so many companies anymore that could learn a thing or two from companies like them.

I know it probably sounds cheesy to be so excited after having such good lawn maintenance done, but I'm telling you, I have had the simplest things done half ass for a lot of money by companies that just don't care. It's like they want to show up and get as much money as quickly as they can and get onto the next job. It's nice to see that there are still companies out there that take pride in everything they do at every single stop along the way. They are always early or on time and they clean up behind themselves immaculately.

I really wanted to send them a quick email to tell them thank you for all of their hard work but unfortunately their website did not have a contact email. They do have a phone number but I felt like it would have been more personal to send an email and let the whole company know versus just the one guy that came out and busted his butt yesterday. Mainly because  every one of them that have ever been out has busted their ass. So anyway kudos to you and a massive thank you for everything that you guys did. The yard has not looked better when it comes to the grooming of the shrubs, bushes and related.

Babies First Easter

So today was obviously Zoey's first Easter. We could not do much for her because as you know being only 6 weeks old there is no way she would really understand what was going on anyhow. No matter, Cicely and I being the cool-ass parents that we are decided that we would have a photo shoot.

I will take credit for the majority of it this time, I have to get credit where I can because Cicely is so amazing with her. I had a brilliant idea to pick up some of the fake Easter grass, plastic eggs, basket as well as some of those rabbit ears. It worked out great. We sat Zoey up in the chair with grass and eggs and her in the basket with her sparkly pink rabbit ears on and it was so cute. Although at times I don't think she was having as much fun as we were. Unknown to us is that her cute Easter dress had ridden up her back a little bit which meant she was getting scratched up from the basket as she slid down from her lack of strength to hold herself up. Poor little thing, I felt so bad when I saw those scratches on her back and she was still such a trooper.

In the end we ended up with well over 100 photos and had to go through them and pick out the best ones. This was not an easy task but between Cicely and I we managed to narrow it down to about 38 photos. I think that will be great to add to baby's first Easter album.

Family Visit

So what is Easter for baby without having a visit from grandma and grandpa Mendoza? They showed up about 45 minutes after we were done doing the photo shoot which was perfect timing and they even brought along Zoey's uncle Michael which I know she was excited about because she could not quit staring at him.

To make things even more special for Zoey they brought an awesome basket of goodies along with a cute purple bunny rabbit. I assume me and Cicely will be responsible for eating most of the stuff in the basket, LOL. Although I plan to be extremely good and eat very little to none of it. I am trying to drop a little bit of my ass baggage before summer is here and in full effect. I want to be able to spend time with my daughter at water parks and places like that and not feel like a big fat slob. More importantly I want to be around for as long as I can so I can watch her grow up to be an intelligent and beautiful grown woman.

Oh I can't forget that grandma and grandpa Mendoza also brought us over some barbecued ham, garlic bread rolls, asparagus and some sliced potato wedges. This is what they had today for their Easter dinner and brought some over for us to have for our Easter dinner since we did not think to plan anything special. How freaking cool is that? Very cool I say!

Thank you guys so much for thinking of us and coming all the way out here not only visit Zoey, but to bring us something for dinner as well. We appreciate it very much. We were just talking the other day about how lucky we feel to have family that does stuff like this for us. It's not every family that has this sort of relationship and helping-hand to lend for various reasons, but I tell you what - it's awesome when you do.

Oh and I can't forget the other gift that Zoey was brought by grandma and grandpa Mendoza. They brought Zoey an awesome little pool! I cannot wait for the warmer days of summer to be here so we can go out back and play in it. I don't think there is enough room in there for all of us or even more than just her, but it will be a total blast I just know it!

Boiled

Okay well if this post was an egg I think it would be hard-boiled by now. It's about time for me to get back inside and have a little more family time before it's time to start the work week again. "Back inside you ask"? Yeah I did not have much time today to compose this entry so I am doing it while doing my cardiovascular workout on the treadmill.

It sounds a little crazy and maybe dangerous I know, but being able to use Siri and text to speech helps quite a bit. Sure it makes a lot of dumb mistakes and does not understand all of the words every time but it still saves me from typing every single word and paragraph. It's easier just to go back through and proofread it a little bit and fix the screw ups. Heck most of the time I don't even have the time to go back through and read my entries so there are probably always weird mistakes. Oh well, I don't get paid to do this shxt I just do it because I like to.

I have to be honest and mention that there is one other reason that I write these. I kind of hope that one day Zoey will want to read them and look back through her dad's life. I know a lot of it will be boring crap for anyone to read and it is probably me thinking a little crazy. I mean who am I to make the assumption that she would have any interest in that but hey, it's here if she does. No I take that back, I am her dad so that is enough of a reason why I can make that assumption.

Oh and if you do read this Zoey, I love you so very much baby girl. Happy 6 weeks old and happy first Easter. With love, your papa.

Photo: So Oggy was not able to escape the rabbit ears just like Zoey could not. So for the photo today here is our fuzzy kid Oggy showing a little bit more Easter spirit then I think he wanted to based on the expression on his face.

We love you boo-dog I hope you had a great Easter as well. I know you enjoyed eating some of my barbecued ham and hanging out. I know I had a good time with you. Not to mention the day is not over yet and we still plan to take Oggy for a nice long walk.
