Back At It

Well it's that time once again to get up to an alarm clock screaming out some old rock and roll song or a DJ giving me an update on the traffic, weather or recent events in the news. Yea I am referring to going back to the Popsicle stand again to have some fun and make money doing what I enjoy doing - making games and managing those to help them be able to develop games efficiently.

Experiences

Over the past 3 weeks it has been such a crazy experience and quite an emotional roller coaster at times as well. Everything from watching the birth of my daughter and hearing her first cries to keeping a close eye on my amazing wife as she went through so many ups and downs throughout that first week.

Everything from spikes in blood pressures to fluid in her lungs and many other ups and downs that you can never prepare yourself for. There was lack of sleep, not always knowing what day it was exactly and even losing count of how many days we had been at the hospital or in a particular room.

You know that something is wrong when you go to the different level of the hospital to go to the nursery, cafeteria and so on and the employees, nurses and other staff begin to recognize you. Generally this means you have been there far too long and it's time to get up, out and home.

Thankfully we did just that after an extremely long 7 day visit that has already totalled over $50,000 in bills and that was only a few of the initial bills that have shown up so far. Thankfully we have great insurance and should only have to pay a percentage of that amount. It will still be a nice chunk if change we could have used to go to the Caribbean with but what ya' gonna do ha ha.

I feel good going back to work knowing that everyone is doing great and more importantly back at home where they belong.

Cubed

At work today it should be a fairly easy day of getting back into the groove and catching up on some things that came up while I was out of the office. Thankfully I have a strong team that can easily manage when I am gone for short periods of time, which is rare if unplanned time away, but they kicked ass non-the-less and I appreciate that.

I have a management meeting this afternoon that consists of management up to directors and so on so that will be interesting. It's my first of these meeting a so I am actually looking forward to hearing what it's all about and the information we are provided. My guess is that today's topics will mostly focus on the recent cutbacks and layoffs from last week.

Oh also so long as things work out with my day I should be able to get back into the gym finally as well. I have been working out at home but it's never quite the same. It's good but with limited equipment it's hard to get as rewarding of a workout in other than cardio.

Weather

Today we are supposed to be getting colder once again and I think I am going to have to turn off, or at least drain the irrigation system. Not something that I want or like to do once it's turned on for the year but its much better than having it freeze and not only cost me hundreds to fix but the time that it takes to do so is another factor. I will shut off the main valve today before leaving for work and just have to turn it all back on in another week or so once the weather stabilizes.

Flush

OK with that I am going to call this entry done for the day, that-is unless something new and exciting comes up that I feel I need to add to it. I am sad to head to the office without my co-pilot, Cizzle but I am also happy knowing that she is at home resting and taking care of our little girl. Have fun today you two and don't worry, Oggy is there to keep an eye on things while I am away for the day!
