Hospital Day 3

Here we are at the hospital probably for our final day. Normally we would've been released today but because Cicely was taking so much magnesium they wanted us to stay an extra day for observation.

Morning Baby Girl

So we have had baby most of the day today instead of her being down in the nursery a lot. It's been really nice to have the time to bond and get to know her.

After today all of the family except for mom of course, has met Zoey and they all adore her. I think it's a mutual feeling because she is in love with them just as much already.

Vending Boob

So Cicely and I decided a long time ago that she was going to breast feed Zoey which is great. Not only will doing so save a lot of money on formula but more importantly it's extremely healthy for Zoey. The only downside is it's not the easiest thing to get working right away.

This morning she tried and it worked really good and really fast. But then twice today when she tried she had no luck and baby could not eat so we ended up using a bottle for that feeding.

All we can do, well Cicely can do, is try some more and see if her body will decide to kick into gear. At least worst-case scenario we have some really natural formula we can use once baby comes home. Our preferred method is breast-feeding but we will do what we can and what works the best for everyone, especially baby Zoey.

Photos & Announcements

So today at the hospital we had the photographer come by so we could take a bunch of photos of baby and of course us with baby. These will be used as gifts as well as memories for us and some will be used as the photos for our official birth announcements we mail out.

It is a little expensive of course but what isn't that is baby related? At around $400 for everything that we got it's actually not that expensive because we get digital copies of the photos as well. This means we can send them to others, back them up digitally, print more of them out or do anything we want with them.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well everything turned out and that is why we bought one of the bigger packages. We also added in a few of our own ideas to the package. Doing so made it feel that much more personal and complete.

We cannot wait until they are mailed to us so we can start sending them out. Super exciting stuff!

Visits

So my sister Kelly came by today to visit Zoey and they had a great time together. Zoey was so calm and relaxed the entire time with Kelly it was really cool. But I guess that is just how it works when family has great touch with babies. She has two great kiddos of her own after-all.

Tonight Cicely's step mom and her dad are supposed to come by to visit again and want to bring dinner for us this time. Honestly I am sure that it's so they can visit with Zoey again which is awesome. I hope they know they can visit anytime they want as many times as they want of course.

But we appreciate the food because it gets us out of the hospital food routine. We are looking forward to their visit again and I am sure that baby Zoe is as well.

School

Unfortunately I had to cancel my class toward my business certificate for this coming Thursday and Friday. Really I could go but I don't want to leave Cicely and baby home right away like that.

She told me that she does not mind but that does not mean I have to listen. The class will come around again during the fall semester according to the coordinator so I will just take it then. I only get one shot spending time with my daughter while she's this age and I'm not going to miss it best I can.

Fuzzy Kid

I figured it was important to mention that the fuzzy kid, Oggy, has been doing pretty good during all of this as well. We have had to leave him home several days in a row without us there and I know that has to be hard on him. He is used to us there with him all of the time and if we are not there then he usually stays with someone else.

At the very most he is home alone for a long day while we are at work if we are doing overtime or something. He has been a very good boy and has been making sure to go outside to go pee-pee and poo. The kid is so independent we love him so much and appreciate what a good boy is. We are extremely, nervous, excited and curious to see how he reacts when he sees his new baby sister.

I personally think he is going to do very well once he figures out what she is and they will become great buddies. Not to mention he will now have someone to chase around the house besides us. I think about them running around in the yard and how he will want to chase Zoey around.

He will be even more excited to chase her if she has on the squeaky shoes that her grandma Kay bought for her, lol. I think that it's going to be so much fun for them both and am excited to get pictures and video of it all to remember.

Burped

Well with that I think it's time to flip this post over and burp it. It's going to be another learning experience of a night figuring out this parenthood thing and I look forward to it as always.

I am sure my posts will be full of baby stuff for the next few months until reality sinks in more and things aren't as shiny and new for us. I guess what I am trying to tell you is that if that is simply not your thing you might want to scan over many of the upcoming posts ahead of time so I don't bore you.

Not too long ago I also would've been bored by reading such things. It's amazing how much you change when you have one of your own.

With that and until next time - happy "camel day"! I hope you made the best of it that you possibly could.

Photo: Yep you guessed it - another photo of baby. How can I resist not posting pictures of that cute face? Too bad it looks like she was in a nursery brawl with those scratches on her face. Nope, those were all self induced. She is sneaky and gets out of the attached gloves if we don't keep a sharp eye on her when cleaning up. Little Ms. Scissor Hands!
