Busy Sunday

So today I am going to try and get as much stuff done as I possibly can. I need to do some things out in the yard while the weather is decent but before it's full blown summertime.

Once the weather starts to get into the 80's and 90's with the dry air it's not that pleasant to be out in the heat working on the irrigation system and related.

So the more of that type of thing that I can get done today the better. For the most part everything is thankfully working as it should be. There are a few things I need to replace on the drip system but that is pretty much expected. That system is not very well protected from the elements so it takes a lot more wear and tear. Most years those are the components that I spend the most time on.

I also need to get into the game studio for a few hours today so I that I can catch up on a few things because I am out again this coming week. My hope is that I am able to get in and back out of the office in as short of a time as possible so I can get back home.

I don't see any problem with that other than the fact that it is a 1.5 hour drive round trip no matter how efficient I am with my time while there. Because of that I like to make the very best use of it. I know that I need to approve time entries for my team so that will take a good hour to do, less if everyone has entered their time correctly. Not holding my breath because there are usually mistakes.

Getting those corrected means I need to sift through every entry for the past 2 weeks for each person and determine what is incorrect. Once identified I need to then compose individual emails on what I need from them to be able to approve their time.

All said and done if these entries are not corrected in a reasonable amount of time I will get a nag reminder from our payroll department regarding the issues.

It's by no means rocket science of any sort but more of a need for attention to detail by everyone. I think that because everyone gets paid whether time is entered correctly or not is the reason there is not as much effort put into it by everyone. If they were hourly vs. salary my bet is that the entries would be much more accurate and entered on-time.

Personally I use to make sure that mine were as perfect as possible as often as possible as a sort of badge of attention to detail in all things relating to my job. If I had to guess I would say that I had less than a handful of errors with time entry in my 14 years at the company - honestly you could probably count them on 2 fingers but I will leave room for a slight margin of other errors.

Mom

So talking to my sister Kelly today and she had a great idea for mom to be able to meet Zoey without us needing to wait for the entire 6 months or longer to do so. What she was thinking is that she could pick mom up and bring her here for a visit. The more we thought the more we worried it may be a better idea to bring Zoey to her and do something in Carson City like meet up at the park on a nice day and visit.

Our biggish fear is that mom will be impossible to get back into the nursing home if she came all the way to our house and honestly we may still run into that same problem simply going to the park with her. Although it will be much easier if we need help because we will be right there close to her home.

I look forward to it because I have been very sad knowing that mom will never really get to know her beautiful granddaughter and Zoey will never fully know her amazing grandma Twila.

That will do it, time for me to get out on the treadmill for an hour so I can get my butt cleaned up and out of the house before I waste the entire day away.

Already I have been on the computer for hours and hours over the past 2 days setting up and arranging all of the photos from the past couple weeks. Between setting them up locally in iPhoto to getting them all uploaded, organized and labeled along with descriptions it takes up a lot of time.

Totally worth it of course but still a lot of time. Hopefully someday Zoey will appreciate them and want to continue the albums. Not really sure because digital photos are so much more difficult to pass on and there is a fee involved to keep the albums going. Oh well, not much else I can do at this point but try to preserve them for us and her.
