Tax Man

So today it was time to deal with the taxman again. This is a part of the year that I just don't look forward to, who really does look forward to it I suppose. I am pretty sure it's because of the fact that it puts numbers right in-your-face exactly how much you are getting screwed by the government versus how much you earn but don't get.

Just imagine how much better everyone would be doing if they kept all of that money in their pocket. Heck let's face it even 50% more of it could be life-changing for many families. That seemingly small amount of extra money in their bank accounts could help them out in a big way financially.

I think that is why I get so pissed off when I do taxes or the week that I am planning to do them. Simply knowing that there are thousands and thousands of dollars that were earned by Cicely and I that we will never see and the fucking government will keep.

To give us a warm and fuzzy they give us a few bones back at the end-of-the-year if we played the game right. Although it's not anything like what we should actually be earning, which again in my opinion is every fucking cent of it!

Don't Owe

Well it's official at the time that I write this entry that our taxes are done and we do not owe anything this year to Mr. Taxman. We are stoked to be able to say that but we wish we would be getting a lot more of our money back.

Between Cicely and I making just a tad more money this year and then her running her business all year our taxes were a lot more complicated than they usually are. Thankfully we had a ton of deductions for her business which helped us a great deal. Otherwise we would have owed money for sure.

I have to admit that I am really proud of Cicely for keeping such good records of everything she spent money on this past year for her business. Not that she is not capable of doing it and does not do a good job with that sort of thing, just the opposite. It's more of the fact that it's simply not easy the first year when you're trying to make money and run a business 100% legit. Great job Cizzle you did awesome and I really appreciate it, it made the tax season that much easier!

Spoiled Kiddo

So as planned, my dad and step mom Cyndi came by the house yesterday afternoon to drop off more gifts that they did not take out to the baby shower. Once again Cicely spent a good part of 2 hours opening up the gifts. Boy was it a lot of fun seeing all of the awesome stuff that they picked up for baby and for us.

I have said it so many times and will probably say it many more but I am so happy and blown-away regarding the support and gifts we are getting from everyone for baby. It is getting really close, and even more surreal everyday.

With only 2 weeks to go for the official full-term 40 weeks to let baby cook in the oven we are happily nervous and freaking out a little bit as well of course, LOL.

Middle Name

Okay if you're reading this one day Zoey you will know that your mom and I did not have a middle name for you 2 weeks before you were supposed to be born. I am really sorry about that but middle names are extremely difficult even though they seem really easy. It's a shame that so many people dislike their middle name because I am sure that their parents put a lot of thought into them just like their first name. I know that we are!

Anyway we have a bunch of names that we like but unfortunately they don't have any real heritage at this point to others in the family. Not that that is a requirement, but we were trying to do something like that if possible. I don't think that's going to be the case based on some of the names that we really like.

The other problem is with the last name like ours we want to make sure that you do not have something that makes you sound like you, well, "bake" something. That may sound silly but kids can be extremely cruel and evil and we don't want you to deal with things like that if at all possible.

See how much your mom and dad love you already and you're not even here yet, LOL. But really we do! We only want the very best for you and the very best that we can afford.

Coyotes

Switching gears now going from mushy too creepy the coyotes are out tonight roaming the streets. I can hear them as I write this howling and making the weird yippee sounds that they make when they are communicating with one another.

Normally we don't hear them much until trash day because I think they go around and look for scraps and cans that are open. Because of the cold weather lately they are probably out hunting for cats and anything else that is out and about. The only thing I can say about that is get your pets in the house people you do not want them to become a coyotes dinner.

Checkered Flags

I was able to watch Supercross today and it was a great race in Indianapolis even though the rider that I follow, #7 did not win.

Then I watched the NASCAR race out of Phoenix Arizona most of the afternoon while I was working on the stupid taxes and again it was another good couple hours of racing. Another driver ended up taking the win but I was still happy even though the driver that I follow in the number 14 car didn't win. At least it was a driver that is on his team.

Wrap Up

Alright with that I think I'm going to call this entry complete. I want to relax some more for a couple hours before Cicely and I have to go to bed and start the work week all over again.

We will both be a ball of nerves the next 14 days wondering when baby is going to make her grand appearance. As I may have mentioned before, the only worry that I have burdening my mind is that I am in class a bunch the week of the 10th which just so happens to be the week that baby will probably decide say hi.

I don't know what I'm going to do if that happens. I guess I will just have to play it by ear and go with the flow. There's not much else I can do. I simply don't want to be "that bad dad" the first couple hours or days of her life.

Tomorrow morning is my doctor appointment to make sure that everything is A-OK with babies dad's health. I am sure it will be fine as it usually is and if not I will be sure to put it in this blog so baby knows what to watch out for when she gets older. Just kidding baby, I am sure you are going to inherit your mamas awesome genes which means that you will be beautiful and healthy just like her.

Until next time I hope everyone had a great weekend and is watching Walking Dead. If not you better get on it, you don't want to miss an episode!

Photo: A bunch, but not all, of the stuff we picked up for baby last night on our weekly preparation trip to the baby store.
