Baby Duties

As of today the house is back to normal and only contains immediate family and no extended family visiting from out of town. It has really been a whirlwind of a few weeks and seems to only be letting up ever so slightly this week. Thankfully I am off work still and can help Cicely out as much as possible and at the same time get to better know and bond with my baby girl - so adorable!

Screening Prick

On the bad side of news we have to setup an appointment today to get in ASAP for Zoey's 2nd of 2 newborn screenings that have to be done by law. This one was supposed to be done yesterday but we did not realize it until I read the paperwork this morning. I think we are still ok though, the actual paperwork that comes with the test information says we have 15 days which would be Tomorrow. No sweat though, we called the lab right down the street and they have an opening in an hour, sweet!

I don't know how we have managed to keep it all straight so far to be honest with you. There is so much paperwork that they go over with you during discharge as well as appointments, follow ups and so on. Generally that is the last thing on your mind, especially in our case after being there for 7 days, 5 days longer than we wanted to or planned to.

The blood draw for Zoey this time is to screen for a few major things that can go wrong with kiddos and it's beneficial to know any of it up front. While I absolutely hate the idea of my kiddo getting pricked on her heel it's much better than her having a medical condition that goes unnoticed. It's the same when we take the fuzzy kid in for screenings and tests, my heart sinks.

We will help her through each and every one of them the best that we can and look forward to the fact that every one that we do is one step closer to being done with them all until she gets older and ready for school and all the vaccinations that go along with it.

Announcements

Today we are setting up all of the announcements to send to family and friends for helping to shower us with love, gifts and support during and after the pregnancy. We could not be happier or more appreciative of everyone and their valuable time and support. It has been overwhelming and will not be easily forgotten by all 3 of us.

I think we have 30+ to send out which is not too bad. I ordered 48 of the announcements just in case and I am glad that I did. We want to also be able to give one to the do colors office so we can show off our beautiful baby girl and thank them for their awesome skills, help and support from just after conception to birth and now beyond.

Everyone was so caring and helpful during Cicely's difficult time post labor. We met some amazing people that are amazing at what they do day in and day out. It's very humbling to know that they are out there doing that everyday of their workweek and that they love every minute of it.

To everyone we met and had the privilege to receive care from during our stay at the hospital my heart goes out to you and I thank you very much for taking such amazing care of my girls!

Sealed

That will do it for today. I need to get these birth announcements mailed out and set up the appointment for Zoey to go in for the blood test, hopefully today because tomorrow is the official deadline to have it done.

Tomorrow I have an afternoon dentist appointment that I moved up so I don't have to do it next week and can focus in work. Then on Thursday I will be at school all day getting my education "game on". It's fun and if I had lots of money and did not have to work I would probably go to school a lot as a hobby in my free time.

Alright, for-real this time. It's time to get back out in the living room and continue learning how to be a good dad. I want Zoey to always know she is lived and should never be expected to be treated anything less than perfect by everyone she encounters in life. That education begins at home, with me and Cicely.

Photo: Such a great sign they have up at the exit of the parking garage at Cicely's doctors office. This is 1 of 3 they have posted. And before you ask, it's the sign under the stop sign.
