These past days off have been more of a learning experience than anything else. From all the complications that Cicely had in the hospital to learning how to be a dad, plus going to school in between at all it has really taken a toll. But as I have said before and will say every time, I would not trade it for the world and would do it over again no questions asked. Well except for the part about Cicely having so many complications.
Visitors
So today little Zoey has some more family coming over to visit her. My sister Kelly, Zoey's aunt, is coming over around 1:00 PM to visit. She is going to bring my nephews Cody and Cameron to finally meet their cousin as well. Right now Zoey is taking a nap so hopefully she will be ready for visitors and not sleep through it. Sometime she does that and then the minute the visitors leave she wakes up and is ready to eat, look around and be alert.
I had a feeling that my dad and step mom were going to come by today as well. I have not heard anything from them yet so maybe my step mom had to work today. Normally I would not have that assumption, but my dad sent me a message last week asking if I was going to be around. So either they are going to come by to visit, or he needs to pick up some of the lumber that I have for him. Either way he will get to visit with his granddaughter.
Fuzzy Kid
This morning before my sister came over Cicely grabbed the fuzzy kid, Oggy, and took him down to the pet store to get his nails groomed. I worry that he has felt a little bit ignored the past couple days with all of the excitement of baby. So we have been trying to do our best to make sure he knows that he is still our first baby and loved 100%.
Even though going to the pet store to get his nails trimmed is not on the top of his list, I know that he enjoys going for a car ride. Not to mention, once he is done with his visit in the grooming salon he gets to go up to the cashier and sit like a good boy and be given a nice milk bone treat. Although they are not very good for him we allow him to have them for this occasion. He absolutely loves it and feels very proud once the trip is over.
Exercise
For me, I am currently on the treadmill doing my cardiovascular training for the morning. I figured it was as good of a time as any to get it out-of-the-way. With all of the hustle and bustle of the past couple weeks it has slipped a little bit. That is to be expected though when there are life-changing events going on in life.
Another reason that I need to be doing more of my usual workouts is because Cicely's mom has been staying with us for the past 2 weeks and cooking some amazing dinners. To add to it, my mother-in-law Kay also cooked and sent us a bunch of really good meals as. Between the two we have had everything from giant pasta dishes to shepherds pie and Dominican food paired up with the standard staple of black beans and rice.
Even as we sit right now we have soups, chicken meals of various flavors, salads as well as spaghetti meals to eat. Between all of the sitting around visiting with family, rocking the baby and eating these calorie rich, but awesome meals I am going to pack on the pounds. Packing on the pounds is not something I want to do before summer. As it sits now that I have had my gallbladder surgery a few years back it's hard enough to keep the weight off.
Cool Down
Alright I think that will do it for today's entry. Working out and thinking about all of the great food that I have in the refrigerator is making me hungry. All I have had so far today is coffee and a yogurt with some granola in it. That is not enough food to keep me going. Heck, it's no wonder I have been tired and unmotivated today. Well, either it's that or it's from eating all of the rich foods, LOL!
Whatever it is that you're doing on this Saturday enjoy it to the fullest. If you are in the valley in my area it's an amazing day outside and may get into the 70°. Enjoy it while you can as I said because by the end of next week we have a forecast for snow. Our typical final storm before summer.
Photo: I could not resist when Cicely called me to see what I wanted from Starbucks. Decisions, decisions, but in the end I decided on a strawberry lemonade.
