Wrong Fuckin' Address
Next on the menu was showing up at St. Mary's and finding out that it was not the right location and the person at the pediatric Associates after hours call center told us to go there. As I write this we are now off to our next destination a few miles away. Parenthood = fun.
We are now about 7 miles away from the place we were just at and now doing all of the necessary paperwork to get her checked in to be seen. Nothing like a scare with the kiddo first thing on a Saturday morning that will cost us around $50 for a quick "nope everything is totally OK and you are free to go".
Okay well all said and done we left the appointment and everything looks okay with baby. That is such good news and worth the $50 no problem. We did have to stop by the pharmacy and pick up some saline solution of which we have to put one or two drops in each nostril before she eats. It's kind of normal for them to get a little phlegm build up in their nose and throat which causes them to have a little bit of gagging occasionally. This was what was happening this morning I guess.
No matter what everything is better now and Cicely feels better as do I. Most importantly though Zoey feels better and is sleeping as I am writing this. It was a bit of a scary morning when Cicely said Zoey could not breathe but it's all good now and we did all of the right things according to the urgent care doctor.
Car Seat Safety
While we were out we decided to go pass Renown medical center and see if we could get Zoe checked out in her car seat. Normally what they do is verify that the car seat is not only installed correctly but that baby is in the car seat tight enough and not too tight as well as in the right position and so on.
Unfortunately they only had about half an hour left before they were closing up and so we did not get to be a part of the event. Thankfully the people that were there were kind enough to understand our situation and give us a card that will allow us to show up at one of the other events and have the testing and verification done free of charge.
That was really cool of them because normally it would cost around $10 to have the checks done. $10 is totally worth it of course but free is always better when you're a new parent and have all of these surprise expenses.
Enough Fun
Okay I think that was more than enough fun for one Saturday morning. It got both Cicely and my heart rate up and I'm sure scared Zoey a bit as well. I am one of those parents that does not care if it costs $50 or $1000 if it is for my kiddo. I am going to do whatever it takes to make her feel better and not be in harms way and no one is going to tell me otherwise or get in my way or they will go down.
Sure I realize that sounds like a lot of "tough guy" talk but come-on it's my daughter after-all and anyone should be willing to do that for their son or daughter. She is the new "world to us" and we are here to protect her in every way that we can.
We do the exact same thing for our fuzzy kid Oggy so why would we not do it for our baby Zoey? Oggy still gets the top care that we can provide and that will never stop as well. He was essentially our first kiddo and will always be a huge love of our life and an important member of our Baker family. I hope Zoey will grow up to love him just as much as we do and him for her. In reality the more that I think about it am sure they both will.
I know most people like to say they would do anything in the world for their kiddos or fuzzy kids but I know for a fact that there are even more out there would rather roll the dice of stupidity and save the 50 bucks. Not a good idea in my opinion to do things so nonchalantly when it comes to a life.
Heading Home
It's time now to go home and relax and have some of the enchiladas that Zoey's grandma Kay, (also known as Hottie Kay) made for us to have for meals the first couple weeks so we are not thinking about trying to make dinners while we are learning all of this new parenting stuff. Thank you so much Kay it has not only been a huge help but it has been really good food as well.
We all love you and thank you guys very much for being there for us all the time and helping out. That goes for the rest of my family as well. Everyone has been so amazing and we feel so fortunate when it comes to everything that has happened over the past few weeks.
