Well it's Friday and the 5th day at the hospital after Cicely gave birth to our beautiful baby girl. Baby Zoey is doing wonderful so far and I still can't believe she is ours.
She is already eating great, sleeping a decent amount and doing plenty of pee and poos. She has even started latching on for breast feeding which is usually pretty difficult. She does get a little frustrated because mamas milk is not fully in yet, but she has the idea and milk will be there soon kiddo.
At only 4 days old we are already extremely proud of her.
Cizzle Status
So originally we had hoped to be long gone from the hospital by now and only spending time at home with baby Zoey.
Life has a funny way of throwing little curve balls your way and this time was no different. Honestly all said and done it was a huge curve ball. It was so unexpected to have Cicely have her blood pressure skyrocket right before and after giving birth and not really level out since then.
Her blood pressure is always so awesome when we get it checked and it's always been a running joke that she is so lucky that she does not exercise, yet all of her vital signs and blood work are awesome all of the time.
Seems like there was a different plan for her this time. I am happy to say that she is doing much better though and is in much better spirits as well. There are a few more tests that need to be ran this afternoon like a sonogram and another chest x-ray to be on the safe side. But things are looking up for the better.
Let's hope that we get to go home tomorrow, Saturday, almost one week after going into the hospital for a "quick" labor and delivery.
Company
I don't remember if I mentioned it in yesterday's entry or not but here Cicely and I sat in the room talking when all of a sudden at about 10 minutes after 11 PM the door opened without a knock. We knew there was something strange about this because the nurses and everyone always knock.
Well lo and behold who walks through the door but Cicely's mom. Holy crap was at unexpected. After Cicely and her were having a little bit of an argument while Cicely was in labor we did not think she would show up on that day.
Not because we did not want her to visit and see her granddaughter but because we did not want her to come until two weeks after baby was born this way she could help out Cicely a lot once I went back to work just as she wanted to.
Anyway after they had their little disagreement we did not hear from her so we assumed either she was mad and waiting or was going to call and figure something out. No instead she showed up out of the blue at almost midnight.
I don't have much else to say about that and everyone can read between the lines. All I can say is it's time to get through it and move on and that is what I am going to do. There is no reason to dwell on it at this point because what's done is done and I will move forward.
I went down to the cafeteria with Cicely's mom while Cicely slept and had lunch. We talked about some different things as well as how long she plans to stay and the reason why we wanted her to wait to show up. Hopefully now she better understands the reason behind it and she does not think we were just being jerks and trying to keep her from her granddaughter. We have no intention of doing anything of the sort.
Oggy
So I left for a couple hours today and went home and took Oggy for a walk, played with him and piggy toy and we took a 45 minute nap. It was so nice to see him and he is such a good boy I can't even begin to explain it.
He has not made a single mess and continues to go outside and go to the bathroom. Being home by himself basically for an entire week I am amazed. The only thing I have left him is food in his rotisserie so he has a breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Normally he would not get lunch but since he does not get a snack or stimulation throughout the day with us being gone I figured it was okay.
Out
Well as I wrap this up it's nearly the end of the day and I am at the house. I need to hop in the shower and then head back for another night at the hospital. I only hope that Cicely improves a ton and this will be the last night. I know Cicely is ready to go home 10 times more than I am and that is saying a lot.
What a crazy week this has been! I just want it to be over and to begin our life at home with our new baby girl and to introduce her to her big brother Oggy.
Photo: On the hospital menu for today. Cicely will be having some grilled cheese for lunch, then her stand-by favorite chicken strips for dinner. Although the good is actually really good, I want her to be eating at home tomorrow!
