Zoey's Buddies Birthday Party

This morning I managed to get my ass out of the house well before noon for a change which is a rarity on a Saturday morning.

The reason behind this 'madness' was to go for a nice spin before needing to get back home, have Cicely cut my hair and then get myself showered and ready to head to Zoey's first birthday party. Not her party of course but her buddy from daycare, Khaleesi. They don't get to see each other much anymore because Khaleesi is now attending school at Goddard and Zoey is still at The Child Garden. We almost switched Zoey to Goddard as well, instead we are waiting a little longer and see how things go.

The Ride

My spin was short, just at an hour with a little decent climbing involved to shake some of the winter couch time off my legs and get them to remember where we were last year strength-wise.

At this point I am actually close to 30 seconds up to over a minute slower than some of my best times in 2014. I thought for sure that the time spent on the trainer would really boost my performance, instead I think it's doing more to keep me from going completely the opposite direction and starting over when spring gets here.

I was satisfied with my ride even if I was slower in many areas compared to 14'. It felt great to get sun on my face, legs and feel the strain of trying to pump just a little harder to get up a climb. The reward of the downhill feels just as great as it always has. Although this time of the year the 40° weather makes the downhill a lot more nippy!

I also took a photo for once and had it auto upload to my Strava account. Because I am part of the Strava photography club for over a month now and have yet to post a photo I figured it was time. It's pretty cool, the one thing that I like and don't like is that it puts the photo on the map of your route exactly where you took it. Cool but kinda weird when I usually tend to not share geolocation data with photos.

Anyway, enough about my ride. It simply felt so flippin' awesome to get my ass out there and spin for an hour. I will say that it was difficult mentally to come home. I wanted to keep going just as I always do. If it were not for the party I most likely would have put in more like 25 miles or so instead of just over 16 miles. Nothing to be ashamed of whatsoever that's for sure, and possibly for the better so I don't hurt myself over doing it the first couple outdoor sessions.

Party

A mentioned today will be the first birthday party that Cicely, me and Zoey have went to for a kiddo. It's never been on the top of my 'want to do' list only because with Super Bowl tomorrow my guess is that will be the topic of discussion and the discussion I will have no real part in due to the fact that I don't follow stick and ball sports other than soccer on occasion.

Oddly enough after playing baseball for so many years of my life you would think that I would be into it at the very least. Not so much, I am more into doing sports than talking about the performance of others that play them and get paid millions to do so.

Anyway, the birthday party should be great fun for Little Zoey to see Khaleesi and wish her a happy birthday. It will also give her the opportunity to play with Isabelle as well. Another kiddo that was born right around the same time, I think a week or so before Zoey.

Then our friend and coworker Megan will be there with her twins, again born just a month, maybe a little more than that, from Zoey, Isabelle and Khalessi. Their names are Brooke and Paige. Not sure if I spelled them correctly - apologies if I did not girls!

Anyway

I think that will have to wrap up this entry for today. Tomorrow I would like to go for a nice ride again as well as avoid all of the football crap that I can because I am just not that into it. Sure it use to be fun to watch for the commercials in the past but even that has really lost its luster.

I think this year I was more into the World Cup more than anything else. This is a huge no-no for an American of course. How dare I be into a sport that is European - how UN-American of me! Oh well suck it up people!

With that, that's all that I have for today. Have an awesome day and if the weather is as awesome in your area as it is in mine then enjoy it to the fullest. We know that it's not going to last!
