New Road Bike

Today is the part of the cold when my entire head and sinuses are clogged up and annoying as all heck. On top of it the weather is super nice out and it's sort of drying me out and making my nose and face feel itchy and annoying. All part of this stupid cold that I want to have go away ASAP although that never happens and I have to just let it run its course.

Cycling

Today I heard back from the bike shop and my road bike should be done and ready for me to pick up Saturday morning as I had hoped. Usually it should only take them a day, maybe two days to go through the entire thing and be able to get it back to me. I have a feeling they had to either add a bunch of stuff or there were a lot of problems they had to deal with. It will be interesting to see how the bill inns up when I pick it up tomorrow. Hopefully it's not crazy expensive.

Also in regards to the bikes I was originally going to order this one bike that is the second from the top of the line model. After a little more thought I started doing some research on the top-of-the-line model and found out that I might be able to get it for only a little bit more money. This model is the ultimate model and actually has better electronics, tires, and all sorts of other things that would be really awesome to have on the bike.

This model is also 1 1/2 pounds lighter which is really cool but not a huge selling point for me. I end up packing on so much shit when I go for long rides that it does not make that much of a difference. Although every pound counts and does help in the long run I suppose. Either way, I have to wait and see exactly how much more expensive this model will be and then go from there and make up my mind on Saturday.

My guess is that the bike will cost around $6500 all the way up to $7500, I am not exactly sure. With the bike I am currently considering being $4600 plus any extras I might add, it may not be that much more expensive.

Honestly if the bike ends up only $1000 or $1500 more it's totally worth the money because of the components I get. Plus it will be a tubeless setup and wider tires for better performance. The tubeless is a legitimate tubeless as well with proper rims and everything, not a hack.

This is a very similar setup to what I have on my Santa Cruz Heckler mountain bike and it's friggin' awesome! I have zero issues with flats, pinch flats and everything in between and I have taken it over a lot of really crappy terrain.

Anyway, more on all of this later, most likely Saturday if I put in the order for it. Will be nice to not have to think about flats possibly for an entire year and only concern myself with things like charging the electronic shifting system or putting new tires on the bike.

Photo: This is a photo of the newest one that I am considering. It's the Lapierre Pulsium Ultimate. The other I am considering is the Lapierre Pulsium 700. Both are killer bikes, really just comes down to my budget now.
