Nice Winter Day

Today is one of those days I probably should've worn shorts while I still can but as I mentioned a few posts back it's not something I want to get into the habit of if I can help it otherwise when it starts getting cold out I will not want to go back to jeans. Honestly first thing this morning I did have them on once I got out of the shower but then I decided to go ahead and switch back over to jeans just in case it got cold.

No matter I still would have worn a jacket, having a relaxed short sleeve T-shirt underneath is a nice plus so it at least feels kind of like dressing for spring or summer. Right now it's only about 34° outside and it does not feel that cold at all. There is still snow on the ground from the storm we had last week but that is only in the shady spots.

Family Time & Hobbies

If my back was feeling better and we were going up to the resorts more often like we used to, today would be one of those days that would have been awesome to go up and spend the day snowboarding. As well as getting some tasty warm or cold adult beverages every 4-10 runs of course.

I am thinking in the future, hopefully sooner than later, I may need to convince Cicely to start going up to one of the resorts and either us learning how to begin snowshoeing or else we will start doing something along the lines of cross country skiing or related. I need to find more things to do during the winter months besides working out and using the bike trainer.

These are both great workouts and I enjoy them very much, its just healthy to mix it up a little and get outside. Plus I would really like to be able to get Zoey involved in more things like those mentioned as she gets older if she's interested in doing them with us - I hope she is.

Zoey can always go up to the hills and learn to ski or snowboard or I will teach her how to snowboard and Cicely can teach her how to ski since Cicely knows how to do both. I am confident I could learn to ski fairly easily even though I have never once tried it. I have been snowboarding since the 1980's and have never really had a huge interest in skiing. Not sure why other than because I am a skater at heart, and that was my 'thing' a good majority of my life so it's more natural.

Although once I lock into my bindings, get on the lift and get off a the top I seem to forget that I am getting older so my body needs to stay away from the half-pipe as well as the snow park otherwise I will end up needing surgery, X-rays, brace or something if/when I get overly confident. I like to have fun like that and forget that it hurts 100x much more when I fall now and the pain from the fall or the bruises lasts much longer as well.

Cycling & Gym

I didn't make it to the gym again, honestly its been a nice break for a little while because I don't have to stress out about getting down there at a very specific time, New Years annoying people there or not. Don't get me wrong, I really really enjoy working out but at the same time not having the deadline of rushing down everyday before time runs out and the place gets packed has been nice and even more-so this time of the year with all of the resolutioners.
I did come home and do a crazy ride on my trainer. It was located in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. It looked like a gnarly ride from the graph yet it showed that it had a very moderate amount of incline and elevation changes. Yea whoever created that is a big ass liar! The route started out fairly easy with a little climb here and there followed by downhill to rest, get your heart rate down and prepare for the next climb.

Overall I think this has been one of the most difficult routes that I have done to date. Even the trainer road testing that I did was extremely difficult but nothing like this. As mentioned it was not supposed to be crazy difficult yet over the course of I think 14 miles I climbed just under 1700' of elevation changes as well as had climbs that were 3%, 8%, 26%, 38% incline!!!!

Holy shxt was that tough, thankfully those only lasted a quarter mile give or take a little so it was not too bad, but kicked my ass enough that by the time I was done enjoying the downhill for a few minutes here cam another wall of elevation changes that needed my attention.

I did mark the route as 5 stars even though it has no video and in my opinion has some inconsistent data within in based on some of the things the trainer wanted to do as far as speed or resistance.

Hope All Is Well

Okay hopefully your week has been going well and you are getting back into the groove of 2015, work and if you were one to make some resolutions then I do wish you nothing but the best of luck accomplishing them.
