According to the weather guessers this morning we are supposed to be getting nearly 2 inches of rain which I will believe it when I see it based on the small amount of sprinkling that was happening this morning.
If we do get that much rain it's all good because we need it.Plus it will give the ski resorts more snow that they are in desperate need of. Otherwise their season is nearly over as it is and I doubt they have had much business due to the lack of white stuff falling this season.
T-800 Version 1
Setup a print last night of the T-800 and let it go for just over four hours to get it to print out a lo-res version with no rafting or any required supports. There are supports built into the print because of the way that the bust is on the platform. The nice thing is that they look very Terminator in the way that they are formed like metal, steel and hydraulic hoses. This way if you keep them on there as I did, the model still looks really good.
Most people would either print their own thin supports and break them off afterward I think just to have a cleaner model. Either way 3D printers require them otherwise they won't print certain things. Think of an overhang on a house, without some sort of support structure there is no way for the printer to lay material in thin air.
Anyway I am really happy with the results and the interesting thing is that it looks better in person oddly enough! The photos and lighting actually make it look much more low resolution and chunky than it looks in person.
Once I do the print in the silver coke I may then try to do this technique they call a vapor bath. Really all you do is put the print into a sealed box, bucket or related (outside or in a well ventilated area of course) then place a soaked with acetone rag or paper towel into it so it hangs inside. This then does something to the PLA filament causing it to be very smooth and shiny.
If I manage to get a good enough hires print out and have success with a vapor bath this thing may look pretty friggin' awesome once it's complete. Even though I did not create the actual model it's still a lot of fun printing and tweaking them. Eventually I will make some of my own, for the time being and to better understand the printer it's best to take it one new thing at a time.
Quick Grocery Stop
We have to stop at the store to get a few things like yummy spaghetti for dinner and fudge covered drumstick ice cream cones for my sweet tooth. I have been cutting those back to one every other day, so only Monday, Wednesday and Friday then the weekends are dependent on whether or not I have managed to get exercise time in or a nice bike ride.
I have also cut my sugar back in my morning coffee to help reduce overall calories and sugar intake every week, month and year. It does not sound like it would be that much, when you add it up simply reducing the sugar packet by one less a day it's a savings of 1,120 calories per month and the sugar intake itself. Then reducing the nightly sweet tooth fix drumstick ice cream cone by at least 2 less per week is another savings of another 2,320 calories per month.
Add these up and now you are getting into some more exciting numbers. Together this is a savings of 3,340 calories per month from sugar and sweets totaling a savings of 41,280 calories saved per year!
Sure there will be no perfect year and there will be more sweets here and less sweets there to make up for some of this. Considering that if I focused on only achieving half of these savings I would still be saving over 20,000 calories a year and that is awesome. If you are like me you know how much hard work it takes to burn even a very small amount of calories like 500 to 1,000. To me this is well worth the effort - even though it's not always that easy - I love to have my ice cream after dinner and share a few bites with my Oggy boy!
Clock Out
Alright the day is almost over now, well the workday is in fact over and we are on our way home. So I am going to enjoy the last few minutes of the ride, listening to the calming sound of Zoey sleeping in the back seat - it nearly puts me to sleep every time, just like Oggy does when he is laying with us and falls asleep.
Oh and last, there is no way we received 2" of rain as predicted today u the weather morons. If anything we received less than 1/2" at best - nice work as usual guys! Although while we sit here on the west coast dry and enjoying the weather the east coast is getting pounded with snow and most of the cities are shutting down. Sucks to be them, I say let them have it - I am over it and prefer the winter to stay up in the mountains at the ski resorts where it belongs! A little down here at times is okay, like on the weekend or when we are off work. Otherwise it's a real pain in the ass in about every other way.
Enough about all of that and enough rabbling out of me for the day. Have a good evening. I will be back tomorrow to rabble more about completely random and irrelevant to most people all the shxt on around me.
Photo: This is my print that I was working on this week. I printed it low resolution first to make sure that it was actually going to finish and not have issues, wasting 13 hours of printing. This still took me just over 4 hours but for the size, it's not too bad.
