This weekend I finally decided to throw in the towel and start to sell some of my remote control gear that I have not been using the past year or so. While this is a huge bummer because not only is the stuff expensive to get again but it's sad that I was never able to even start to use some of it. With a lack of time as well as other things that I was more interested in spending my time doing it made it very difficult to pinch out that little bit extra to fly as well as continue to fly so that I am able to keep my skill sharp and not crash, well at least not immediately upon takeoff!
Stingray
Saturday I decided that it was time to list my Stingray 500 variable pitch quadcopter. I have had this thing since December of 2013 and planned to build it, set it up and start to fly it in place of the helicopters that simply took too much of my time. Between the constant tuning and maintenance, and that is if you don't crash or have a hard landing, which you do very often, it manages to take a lot of time to be able to keep flying. This makes it become more of a part time job, which in turn becomes a thorn in my side and gives me little to no desire to do it.
I pulled the trigger and listed it on eBay Saturday with a 30 day listing in hopes that it would eventually sell. For some reason there are not many of them on there so I figured either everyone that buys them keeps them or no-one is buying them. I have had some really fast sales on eBay in the past, even as quick as under a couple minutes. Unfortunately this was not that fast, but was quick because by 1:00pm on Sunday it was sold and paid for.
I am both super happy and bummed but as I said, it's time for it to be owned by someone that will be able to use it and will enjoy it versus it sitting in my closet or in the garage in hopes that one day I will start to use it, which more than likely I will not.
I found a box for it last night and Cicely helped me get it together and wrapped up. I got all of the shipping paid for and she will ship it out for me today. A guy in Vegas bought it which is cool, at least I know that it will stay in the same state, yea I know - really makes no difference to me so long as it's being used and I have some cash from it.
In the end I sold it for $530 which is not too bad considering I paid just over $700 for it in December 2013 because I had some discounts available to use with the hobby shop. I lost about $200 on it but that is 100% okay because it's now money in my pocket and I can use it for something else.
Oggy Update
So a quick update on Oggy, his lump is finally almost gone it seems and still has not bothered him one bit since the day that I first noticed it. I am really happy that it did not and even more happy that it was not anything bad.
Yesterday was his last dose of medicine and we are happy to be done with it. Not that it's difficult to give to him or anything, he actually eats it up just like a treat. It's more that I don't like having to give him stuff if he does not have to have it. We are not sure if this bump went away on its own or if the medicine actually helped. Either way, we are super happy that he is better - love you buddy!
Cubed
Monday again, they seem to come around at least once a week anymore. Yea I know, bad joke! It's a fact that it's Monday though which means I need to get back into 'the zone' and put my manager and coach hat on again. It should prove to be a fairly interesting week with a lot going on but at the same time not a lot going on if that makes any sense at all!
If this is the start of your week as well all I can offer is a suggestion to hang in there and take it hour by hour. Before you know it, lunch will be eaten and you will be halfway through the day, on your way to the end of the day and one step closer to your next weekend.
The weather is not supposed to be as nice for us this week. I think today is the final day of it and it should top out at 60 degrees or so. Not bad at all for January if you ask me. Heck I would take this weather any day during our 'winter months'. If its nice this weekend though I would like to jump back on the bike for a spin outside again - it kicked my ass yesterday but was awesome to get back out there and run around town. Now I just have to figure out why the trainer is not helping me as much as it should be in my off season training!
Photo: This is the quad that I put up for auction and sold this weekend. It was going to be a really awesome one to play around with, I had to come to the realization that I just don't have the time.
