My Friday

Yea the title is not a mistake, this week Thursday is once again my Friday but only from work. I have to go over to the south side of town early in the morning anyhow to go to school tomorrow. While I like going to school, it would be nice to have a day off on a Friday that was not because I was going to be sitting in class all day but rather going up to the lake, playing around with my new bike (when ever the dam thing comes in and is built) or something of that nature.

Reviews

Well I am happy to report that as of yesterday afternoon I finally finished up the last of my teams mid-year reviews, well the written part at least. Either today or starting off the first part next week I plan to begin having the one-on-one meetings with everyone and doing the sign-offs and that sort of thing so we can move on and not have to deal with these again until year end reviews. Those are the ones that most look forward to anyhow as they are the ones I can give out merit increases, bonuses as well as shares of stock in the company and that sort of thing.

We will see how it goes, I am of course very green when it comes to doing them as I have never been on this side of the table when participating, rather on the receiving end. I have no idea if individuals will be confrontational on the "comments" and "suggestions" I have made or if they will go with the flow and not have much dialogue with me at all. I hope its more of the "tons of conversation and back and forth chatter" situations. Those are so much more stimulating and make the entire process that much more productive and worthwhile for everyone.

Bike, What Bike?

So as of today it's going on 14 days since I picked out and paid for my bike and I will be the first to tell you that I am a little bit disappointed in the shop for not calling me to at the very least let me know what the hell is going on. Meaning, "hey your bike is in, we are swamped with work right now so it will be done by X date" or "hey your bike has not come in yet but we are working hard with Santa Cruz to find out when it will be put on the truck and sent our way" or "hey, your bike is in and we almost have it complete - plan on coming in on the X to do the final fittings"...I think you get the point I am trying to make.

I was extremely happy with the shop and the guys that I talked to while there when I bought it but from that point up until now it gives me a bit of a bad taste in my mouth and I am going to have Cicely call them today and try to find out what the hell is going on. I dunno, maybe I am asking for too much (not). Its my opinion that if i spend well over $3,000 in your store you owe me the courtesy of a phone call to give me some sort of status updates.

I was planning to spend another $500 or so dollars with them when I picked up the bike. Getting accessories, shoes, helmet and all sorts of things I have already picked out and tried out while there a few weeks back. Now I am wandering off into the "maybe I will just get the fit and make of what I want and spend my money online for those items".

I know, kinda fucked-up, but is it? We will see what the deal is and I will make my decision from there. As much as I would like to give them my money since they are a local company, they need to give me top customer service as well to earn my money. They are not the only fish in the pond.

More on this later I am sure. You watch, Cicely will call and the bike has been ready for weeks but my number was written down wrong or something and all this bitching is for nothing. Although they do have my email address so they could have done that as well to get in contact. Anyway, enough bitching outta me.

Shut It

That will be the end of today's entry / bitch session. I need to hurry off to work and get as much done today as I possibly can. I have been tasked to work up a document in Excel that has all of this critical data in it for our localization processes and first things first - not only do I need the data but I need to figure out how the hell to use Excel again. I have barely used it, I am more of a graphics guy so spreadsheets have never really appealed to me or been a part of my day-to-day.

Looks like now that I am in management they will become just that, more of my day-to-day as I see others using the application a ton - so I better get my ass on the ball and start using it more. I think I may have to take a class up at UNR to improve my skills in it. I have a digital class that I paid something like $29 for but to be blunt - it sucks ass big time.

Photo: Shirt I ordered all the way from the United Kingdom for Zoey. I could not resist. I dig it when I find stuff with the word "BAKER" on it for me so why not for her as well?
