Friday, Cool

Well I guess this morning I will play the part of captain obvious and remind everyone that it's Friday, woo-hoo! It has been one of those weeks where it's a short 4 day week that feels more like a 9 day week.

I don't think I have had this many back-to-back meetings since I have been in my management position. The thing is, most of the meetings have been very high-level and important because they are affecting our schedule for fiscal year 15 and fiscal year 16.

Don't misunderstand, the usual meetings we have throughout the days, weeks and months are important or information filled as well, it's that these were more intense because they have hard deadlines and a lot is riding on each decision we make with regards to hours and teams we put together for each game development cycle.

Thankfully most of that is complete now and there will only be a little bit of fine-tuning to be done. Of course throughout the year things do change and fall both on and off the schedule so adjustments have to be made in a timely manner. Still, much easier than building the initial schedule this time every year.

Team Meeting

I am happy to say that finally I get to have a team meeting with none other than my team today. The last team meeting we had was back in February I think and that is just too long ago. A lot has happened between then and now and therefore meetings were just something we all had on the top of our priority list.

Today should be good and probably take the full hour that I have us scheduled for. There is a lot to go over but mostly housekeeping, how things are going, changes and that sort of thing.

I feel really bad because I want to have more of the one on one meetings with each of my team members as well as have these entire team meetings more often or at least once every 2 months. It has been extremely difficult to find time to do so lately with so many things going on but I do think that it's something I need to work on as a manager.

MTB

I never heard back yesterday from Black Rock bicycles whether my bike was done or not. It's okay, I actually told them to keep it overnight if necessary because I was not going to be riding it until Saturday anyway. I am a little nervous that they won't get it done today. That would really suck because I want to ride tomorrow BAD. Heck in reality I would like to ride both Saturday and Sunday morning - so I hope it's done and I can pick it up this afternoon.

They are one heck of an awesome shop so I know they will not only get it done but it will be done correct and with the best parts I have asked for within my budget. I can't wait to try out the tuned brakes and new over sized rotor as well, should be a big improvement over what I currently have on there.

Yep

I think that will just about do it for today's entry. Time to refocus on the day and do what I can to make the best of it. Fridays are usually my "up in the air" gym day but I have a huge itch to go because I feel it will improve my mountain biking stamina as well if I push myself extra hard on the elliptical, treadmill and related.

I was invited to go play golf today with some of the other leadership team but I want to go get my bike and try to get out of the office today at a decent time so I had to pass this time. It would have been cool because my previous manager will be there so hopefully they will all do this again sometime soon.

Photo: New book I picked up on mountain bike repair and maintenance. Very detailed and worth the $15! I don't think Park Tools does anything half-ass to be honest.
