I think part of the reason it felt so fast is because I was up everyday by 7 or 8 and out of the house shortly thereafter. Only to come back home and eat something, then take a nap for a good hour or so. Wake up and get back to enjoying the weekend to the fullest that I could.
We planned to do a few other things but either ran out of time or the weather did not cooperate enough to be able to do so. Hopefully this coming weekend we can setup the swimming pool that Zoey got from Grandma Kay for Easter and let her play in it for a little while. Heck or a long while if she wants, completely up to her of course.
Anyway, not much else going on today. I have a morning, well day actually, filled with meetings and updates as well as some scheduling issues I need to take care of this afternoon.
Cicely's Bike
Today we are supposed to finally be able to go pick up Cicely's bike from the bike shop. What a pain in the ass, but not really, I am just impatient is all. It has been over 3 weeks since I bought the bike for her and we are just now able to get it. They offered to give it to us a week back so we could use it without the tubeless setup installed but we opted to leave it until it was completed.
As of Saturday or Sunday they said that the tubeless kit they were trying was finally working as expected and that they should have both tires and rims done by late Saturday afternoon I think was the final verdict. Knowing that Cicely was not going to ride this weekend we just had them take their time and we would pick it up today after work.
I think that will be the better way to go anyhow because I did not feel like driving all the way back to the south side of town to get it.
My Bike
Next I may have to take my bike into the shop and figure out why the rear brake keeps on locking up after longer rides. I am not sure if it's an expansion issue or if there is crap in there or what. It is kind of annoying though to be honest. If I have to take it in I may have to miss a ride one weekend and that sucks!
I have been looking at other resorts to go ride but it seems there are only 2, Northstar and Kirkwood ski resort. It's weird to me that more resorts would not have access to trails for mountain bikers to make money during the summer months. Must be too expensive to maintain the resort and hold insurance for that much longer.
For me the only real option is going to be Northstar I think. Kirkwood is almost 2 hours away and I don't want a 4 hour round trip just to ride my bike. Northstar is better but still not what I would consider ideal by any means. It's just under 2 hours round trip.
But to try it and experience it alt least once I think that it is worth the drive and $50 price tag of the lift ticket. A season pass would be the way to go if it were closer but at around r $350 I would have to go 7 days to break even and I don't think I would go that often with all of the free trails in the area that I can ride whenever I want to.
More on all of that later I am sure. I want to do that this summer as well as have Cicely and I go up and do some stand up paddle boarding at Tahoe one weekday while we leave kiddo at daycare possibly. Worst case we take her and be very careful she does not get sunburned or dehydrated. I think she will like playing on the beach even if she is too young to understand where she is.
Photo: More scenery from this weekends rides. This one is a nice panoramic shot I took. Unfortunately this is one of the lower trails that is "no bikes allowed".
