The Dresser, Finally!

So we finally received a call on Thursday that the last piece of furniture for the nursery came in at the baby store. I am super stoked and actually it's about dam time, I was getting a little nervous since baby is due in March and the dressor is our combination dresser and changing table. What we will do is put one of those cool changing pad workstations on it and that will be our setup. I was not a fan of doing so initially but I guess that it's realy common and honestly an excellent way to multi-use furniture instead of forking out another hundred or two for the changing station.

Anyway, we originally paid for the dresser and setup delivery over 4 months ago which at the time was plenty of time to get it to us, pick it up and have the room ready for baby. Thankfully, like most things it all worked out just fine and I worried for nothing. I guess I need to listen to my wife more when it comes to stuff like that huh? Nah, why start now - don't tell her I said that.

Borrowing Dad's Truck

So to avoid charges for delivery and do things on our schedule vs. waiting around all day for the delivery guys to get here I borrowed dads truck today to pick up the dresser.

First stop; the gas station. For some reason his truck is always low on gas when we borrow it - is it on purpose or a coincidence? Nah I am pretty certain that it's nothing more than a coincidence. Pops would not do that to us. This is actually a good thing because we don't want to borrow the truck for free so we figure if we put $50 in gas in the tank that we have not borrowed it without paying anything - not my style.

Once at the store the usual issue with them not being able to find our stuff began. Luckily the guy that helped us remembered the issues we were having with the order and managed to get it fixed really fast so they could get it from the back and bring it up.

This was my queue to go move the truck up to the front of the store, I did and watched them bring the dresser out the door. Holy crap, it was much bigger than I remembered and the thing is super heavy (just under 200 lbs in the box) but that I was prepared for. So once they had it out it was time fore me and one of the guys to lift the beast into dad's truck - success! Cicely and I tied it down and we were on our merry way back home.

It started raining on the way back but no big deal thankfully because dad has a cover on the bed of the truck. It can be a real pain in the ass when there are bigger things to haul but it was a blessing in disguise this time to protect the dresser. After a cautious drive home I backed in the truck and was thankful that I was able to unload it by myself.

Cicely being her stubborn, but helpful and handy self really wanted to help. No way, she is not allowed to so I had to keep a close eye on her. It's very dangerous for her to lift at this stage of pregnancy and after all that she has done to be pro-great pregnancy why screw it up now on the home stretch. Anyway I managed get it down and fully unloaded from the truck with almost zero effort to my surprise, it just slid out slowly and perfectly as though it was supposed to. Once out of the truck I again, easily slid it into the garage and considered delivery complete.

Time then to take the truck back to dads, get Cicely's VW Beetle and go get some lunch - we had done little to nothing really, but were starving for some reason. Once home, the plan was to eat, chill for a few and then figure out how I will get it into the house. (which as I write this it looks as though that will not happen until tomorrow now - no biggie the day just got away from us).

Cicely was supposed to go to work today for a few hours so I would have been on my own moving it inside. No big deal though, we have some of those furniture sliders that make it a breeze to move stuff around no matter how heavy and again, she is not supposed to be lifting, pushing, pulling or anything of the sort. The more I think about it, I am confident that the hardest part with will be getting it into the house. I am thinking that I should be able to by using my Egyptian method of placing pipe under it as I push it along, move the pipe some more and so on until it's in position for the carpet sliders to take over. This is how my 2000+ pound safe was moved into position.

I honestly can't wait for it to be in the room, in place and us happy that it's all taken care of that's for sure. It's the last piece of the puzzle for the bedroom / nursery furniture so once in place we can continue to focus on the littler stuff or decorating.

Diapers, Wipes & Vacuum Storage Refills

While at the baby store I always try to get some of the diaper pail refills, wipes and diapers each and every visit so we continue to stay stocked up on them. As luck would have it today they had a deal on all of those items. We ended up saving $10 on 2, 3-packs of the diaper pail refills and about $8 on the diapers and wipes purchase.

Then to top it off we were given a $20 gift card to use the next time we are in the store for whatever we need. I was not expecting to be given that today. I am still not sure what we did exactly to get it, but I am stoked that we did.

We still have a $5 or $10 off credit that we have to use so the next trip will be great. We will save at least $30 on whatever we buy. I know people think that this baby store is expensive but if you play your cards right and keep an eye on the deals they have, the offers they send and so on you can save a ton of money buying from them!

So....

That is about it for today, it was a really fast day for some reason. I was not expecting it to zip by so quickly to be perfectly honest. I figured that since we got up early and were out of the house at a decent time, did not spend a long time at dads and were in and out of the baby store we would have mega time left in the day.

Ahh it's all good though. Cicely, me and Oggy all took a nice nap around 3 until just past 4 and it did wonders for us all I think. The day is not over yet, but getting close so I still have time to get some things done, watch some shows or just relax if I want to. Hopefully your Saturday was great and you were able to do what you wanted, whatever that may have been! Enjoy what is left of it!

Photo: Nothing else to snap a photo of today other than the price of gas I guess, $3.43 a gallon is just crazy. Not as bad as it has been, like over the summer months but still crap! Not to mention that we had a discount coupon for 50 cents off per gallon that we forgot, oh well next time.
