The Big Reveal

Well after many weeks of interviews, meetings, consideration and everything in between today will be the big reveal at our studios first all hands meeting of the new year. I thought I would be more nervous about it but I am not at all which is really nice that's for sure!

Management

What is the big reveal, at least in relation to me you might be wondering? Well after thinking long and hard about it, running all of the various scenarios through my head as well as "what's to come in the next few years", I have decided to change my career path slightly. The announcement today will let everyone know that I will be transitioning from being an individual contributor and team lead to managing my group.

The decision nor the process of interviews and related was not an easy one. I think overall it was one of the most exhausting processes I have been through in a very long time. Being blindsided by last minute, seat of my pants interviews and chats. Questions and scenarios and what I would do and again, everything in between.

I fully realize that after today I will have a target on my back in many ways and have become OK with that. I am doing this for myself, my family and my career path. I was starting to feel as though some of my development of games excitement and newness was wearing a bit thin and becoming habitual. While I still thoroughly enjoy making games I just needed a change of scenery.

I will also be attending UNR for a management certificate starting in February. It was supposed to begin next week but due to a death in the professors family the class has been postponed until further notice. I was not asked to get the certificate nor was it suggested but was something that I really wanted to do for myself. It should only take me 10 months or so to complete and if nothing else it's a great experience and can only help me to succeed.
