Leadership Meetings

My first official week as a manager and my calendar is filled to the brim with meetings as well as meetings that overlap meetings! It's actually all good stuff, no really. I am not much of a meeting person and would rather hibernate in my cube and work. Today is more of a leadership meeting to get the ball rolling on upcoming changes and things we want the studio to know about in the coming months.

For me it's my first big meeting of the year and most everyone else has already been to them. We each need to come up with slides for our respective areas and that is pretty much it. We will be then going over the schedule all the way out to 2016 I believe which is just crazy to think about honestly. I still need to get a grasp on what everyone is working on in 2014 and wrapping up from 2013.

One day at a time is how I will have to play my cards. As I keep mentioning, it will be a lot of fun, a lot of hard work and hopefully rewarding in the end.

Once the meetings are over I will need to get back into developing my current game so my game team can kick some butt and make our ship date as planned and keep everything on or ahead of schedule.

A quick 1 hour trip to the gym will happen somewhere in the mix of all of this as well today. Always super important and helps me refocus my energy for the second half of the day.

Cubed

I may have mentioned that I will have to move cubes again. Seems like just yesterday I got into my current cube, actually it was during summer I think so really it was not that long ago.

Now that I am a manager I will have a larger cube. It's basically a double cube or just a little bigger than a double. I did not want to move to be honest but it will be cool once I am all settled in. Most likely I will start the process of moving after going to the gym and do some more tonight before going home for the evening. It would be awesome if I could get it all done today. This way others could move over to the area as well so I am not holding them up.

Anyway, I think that does it for today. Just an average day for the most part and a day of learning more about my new position and what I need to focus on in the future to best lead my team.

Have a great day whether you are off for the holiday or working. Make the best of it because you never know what tomorrow might bring.
