Birthing Class, Day 4

Well as of this morning there is no snow, no rain and not nasty weather as predicted by the weather guessers all week long. They now speculate that the bad weather will start later today and into the evening. Once here it is expected to be nothing more than rain down here in the valley and as they put it, "a huge dumping of snow in the mountains". I have a feeling they are exaggerating a little bit because it's simply not cold enough for that much accumulation of snow. It will have to drop nearly 20 degrees today for that to happen and I don't think it will.

Oh well, that is my quick update on the weather anyway. It's still a little dark and gloomy out just like yesterday started but by 2:00 in the afternoon I was roasting hot and actually turned on the air conditioned seats and cool air in the car on the way to Cicely's doctor appointment. It was a total spring-like day and far from winter and winter storms.

Chicken Soup

While in the gym getting a quick workout in before heading off to the baby doctor appointment yesterday afternoon I received a text from my step-mom Cyndi that they had made some home-made chicken soup. As always when they make soups, stews and chili's they asked if we wanted to come by after work and pick up a bowl. Heck yea we did! We did not have anything planned for dinner and home-made chicken noodle soup sounded awesome.

Once there to pick up the soup we could not help but take in a deep breath of the smell of bread, warm bread or bread being baked. To our surprise it was the second one - bread being baked! My step-mom decided to make some fresh from scratch bread as well to go along with the chicken soup, how friggin' cool is that? Really friggin' cool in my book!

We chatted for an hour or so, took our soup and our loaf of bread and headed home. Now filling my car with the smell of bread and soup, yum! In the door and playing with Oggy for a few we could not wait any longer and had to dive into the bread right away. We buttered up a piece for each of us and sunk our teeth into a bite - so good! We finished our pieces of bread and I quickly jumped into the bathroom for a quick shower while Cicely and Oggy took a quick walk to get the mail. Once I was out and they were back we fed Oggy, filled up bowls with the steamy hot (and thick) chicken soup, buttered up some more bread and had dinner.

It was awesome and really hit the spot last night that's for sure. Thankfully we have leftovers for today as well so we both get to enjoy it all over again! Is it lunch time yet?

Child Birthing

Tonight is our 4th of 5 child birthing classes. We are looking forward to the class as we always do on Wednesdays. Tonight we are supposed to learn more about the actual delivery and things that could go wrong and the things that usual don't. Most times there is little to nothing out of the norm, but the point of the class is to educate us on what to expect no matter what.

At the end of the class we should be doing some additional breathing exercises, well Cicely will be but for some reason I get into them with her as well. Then it will be back out to the hall to have her lay down so we can practice more of the breathing and pushing techniques (without actually pushing of course) to better prepare her mind and body for the big day that is less than 7 weeks away now!

Lump

(Khaleesi Alexandria Bailey: 5 lbs, 14 oz, 18 inches long)

One of our friends / coworkers is having her baby today. It's a scheduled C-Section so I imagine she is both grinning ear to ear as well as nervously excited about it all. She has called her belly/baby "lump" since day one and only a few actually know the name of the baby. We do all know that she is also having a girl, but again - no idea on the name. I am sure later today we will know what to start calling baby in place of lump. Big congratulations to you Rebecca, your hubby, fuzzy kids and the rest of your family. I hope everything goes perfectly and you have an amazing day meeting your new addition to the family after the long wait! I know I cant wait to hear her name as well as hear how it all went.

Wow, all of this baby stuff is making me soft lately. I need to go hammer some nails, scratch my balls in public and spit snot or something to "man up" a little - sheesh! Ok not really, but there are those out there that would think exactly that - ahh who cares!

With that this entry needs to come to an end for now. I will attempt to update it later today with the name of Rebecca's new bundle of joy. If not, maybe in tomorrow's entry. For now I am not considering today hump day as I normally would, but rather "lump day" in celebration of the arrival of a beautiful little girl.
