Groovin' Along

So Monday is behind us now and we are into the work week enough to be back in the groove once again. It's always interesting how quickly that transition happens. I mean on Sunday nights we are all bummed that the weekend is over but go through the motions of going to bed a little earlier, waking up Monday earlier than we would in Saturday or Sunday and manage to head into the office bright and early along with everyone else.

Yesterday

So our Monday was pretty much non-stop from the start. We had an early appointment at the baby doctor to verify that momma and baby we still OK and to answer any question we might have. We always have question it seems, but the office and staff is amazing and never makes you feel rushed.

Once done with that it was off to work and the crazy day to begin. It was a whirlwind to be honest. Now that I am stepping into the new role of management I am already getting a lot of requests for my time.

Mini meetings to find out what is going on, who is going where and so on. Unfortunately at this point there is not much that I can do or say until it's officially announced by the studio head later this week. The plan was today but I think it will be pushed out to Thursday now from what I am hearing through the grapevine. OK with me, I have enough I need to get off my plate in the meantime and don't want to leave my current game team hanging.

Once we felt caught up a decent amount and could catch our breath we decided to call it a day around 7:30 PM. Don't worry the day was still not over and we could not go home to relax just yet. We needed to go to the drugstore and drop off prescription refills, run to the grocery store and get some things they were out of when Cicely went last week and so on.

By the time we actually walked in the door it was already pushing 9:00 PM. I took the fuzzy kid for a quick walk to the mailbox while Cicely unloaded the groceries from the bags to the fridge. Once back from taking Oggy to the mailbox we looked at each other and realized we were hungry but it was too late to start cooking anything. So on the menu for the night would be Frosted Flakes for me and Lucky Charms for her. Great dinner I know, I know. But it actually hit the spit for her and was better than nothing for me.

About an hour of both eating and watching an episode of Almost Human and we were both out cold on the couch along with Oggy. Woke up around 1 in the morning, woke Cicely and Oggy up, went to bed in the bedroom and that was all she wrote. Well other than poor Cicely being up most of the night with indigestion and heartburn. I think that has been the hardest part of the pregnancy for her. Sucks, nothing I can really do to help it either. Because if this I let her sleep in a little extra today.

So that is about it for our Monday. Once written it does not sound like much or that crazy I know! Kinda funny how being in the moment puts a different spin on the minutes and hours of our days!

Back To School

What? Yea you read it correctly I am going to go back to school again starting on the 23rd of this month. I want to get up to speed on some of the new managing techniques and learn some of the methods that other manager, supervisors and leadership uses.

The extended studies certificate will take me several months and several thousand dollars to complete but I think it will not only be worth the money but worth my time investment to get up to speed
on some of that stuff. Sure I have worked in "informal" management positions such as team lead, department head and so on, but with the official title I want to be sure I have as much knowledge in my arsenal as I can. Plus it will get me out of my usual day-to-day a little every month to attend the classes up at UNR.

**Update: So my first class was cancelled because the teacher had a death in the family. Well that sucks for many reasons. Time with family is more important for him. Probably have to take it in June now. Oh well it happens.

NEST

So I have to mention really fast that I am saddened and happy about some tech news. Google purchased NEST yesterday for 3.2 billion dollars, cash. Wow is that crazy! I am stoked for the founders if NEST, and that Google bought a great company I just hope they maintain or improve what NEST has become. On the negative side, it's one more place Google can monitor us all. Yep feeling like Skynet more and more!

Anyway, I think that is about all I have for today. I am hoping it will be a slightly more mellow day and I am able to focus my attention on my game development. We are in the final stages of the game and the last thing that I want to happen is have anything slip through the cracks!

Photo: When leaving the store last night we could not help but to notice this car parked in one of the spots across from us. Either someone was pissed or playing a joke on this person. Either way they did a really good job of wrapping up his/her car in plastic wrap from top to bottom, too funny! But yea, I would be pissed if that was my car ha ha!
