60° In January

So as I have been mentioning in other posts the weather has been crazy nice the past few months. It's supposed to be winter but with the weather in the 60° range every day it feels more like spring. I have worn shorts now and then on the weekend but have been trying to stay in pants during the week just in case winter comes back for a surprise visit.

Based on what the weather guessers have been saying though, winter will be back to some degree this week. I don't know if that will mean moisture from rain or if it will actually be snow. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Baby Room

So I am happy to report that we were able to get a ton of stuff done in the baby room yesterday. Everything from taking down things off the wall that Cicely had hung to patching holes from nails, painting spots and related.

Once done we started to hang up some of the new stuff. Things like the vinyl decals on the wall that create a really cool jungle-like theme to match the rest of her room. Then it was on to hanging the letters that Cicely and I painted that spell out her name. This was then followed by some little flower hooks we also painted to match.

These wood flower shaped items will be perfect to hang her hats and jackets on. Last but not least we hung up her growth chart that I found for her online many months back. I had to do some modifications to the hangers on it but it worked out in the end and we can keep a solid record of her growth through the years. Should be really fun!

We also took out the mobile that plays music and hangs out above baby while in the crib. Like most things so far, I had to modify it to work as it is supposed to. It all fits together nicely now and looks great over her crib. We just hope that she enjoys it as much as we enjoyed getting it for her.

Last but not least we finally took a couple hours to sit and open up everything we have purchased or been given for her. From bottles to pacifiers it's all now nicely stored away in her closet. At the same time that we were taking care of all of this Cicely washed all of the clothes and blankets as well so they will be fresh and ready for baby to snuggle into.

According to our calculations we only have 7 weeks left until the big day is upon us and these little steps are making it feel more and more real all of the time. While scary, it still feels really good to know that we are making progress to be prepared as possible for the big day.

Work

Other than that the weekend is over and it's back to the grind again. More new things to learn this week as well as try to wrap up my current game development.

Tomorrow we have another baby doc appointment, the last or second to last of out 2 week appointments. In another week or 2 we start to go every week so they can keep an eye on her body preparing for baby.

Wednesday will be our 4th and second to last child birthing class as well. It has been a really informative class so far and for the minuscule $75 fee it's completely worth it. It has really helped to put our minds at ease about things as well.

I think that will do it for this Monday. I hope you roll into the week smoothly and make the best out of it no matter what. I can guarantee you that I'm going to!

Photo: Really cute wooden learning blocks that one of Cicely's friends gave us for Zoey. I can't wait to play with them with her! The drawings to learn the letters of the alphabet are awesome, ha ha!
