Birthing Class, Day 3

Wow, so according to the calendar it's already Wednesday and the middle of the week! Between my normal day-to-day responsibilities that I have had and have still been working on mixed in with the new leadership responsibilities things have really gone by quickly. I feel like I am never going to get ahead of the game, my game, literally!

Scheduling

Today will start out with additional and long scheduling meetings. I actually am attempting to write this in such a way that it does not sound negative because really it's not. The fact that I cant actually sit in my cube, sip warm coffee and cold water while developing does kinda suck, but our game schedules seem to be a moving target at times and require a lot of upfront thought and planning.

I not only want to be certain that I have all of the "known" games covered but also that developers on my team are on projects that interest them the most whenever possible. It's not an easy task although on the surface it seems to be. We are scheduled for only 1 hour to take care of this but I have a feeling that it will take much longer to do. On the plus side of things I am collaborating with 2 awesome engineering managers that have already had experience doing this for a couple years so they will be able to show this newB some tricks of the trade.

Birthing Class #3

So tonight we have our third birthing class and I am looking forward to it as usual. I know that probably sounds a little odd but Cicely and I are learning so many things about how all of the magic happens before, during and slightly there-after the pregnancy. It's amazing that it all comes together and at the end we get this beautiful little person to take home.

Tonight's class is a little different for us because we have to first meet the teacher over at Renown medical center where we will be getting a tour of the labor and delivery area as well as the nursery and many other areas of the hospital that we will be in during our stay when baby decides it's time to make her big entrance.

Once done we head back downtown to go to the hospital that we normally have our classes at. They are held upstairs in a big auditorium which is great. All-in-all it should be a really good class as usual and teach us a few more things so everything is not as much of a surprise on the big day!

If anyone that reading this is planning to have children or is pregnant I would highly recommend birthing classes if they are available in your area. I think we only paid like $75 for the class and it has been worth it 100% so far although your mileage may vary.

Adjourned

With that this entry will have to be adjourned. I realize that they have probably not been as meaty as they can be in the past but I am busy people! Yes, anyone reading will get bored of the chatter about my new position or meetings over the next few months until it becomes more of my normal day-to-day but this is my outlet and if that happens to be what is on the mind for that day then so be it, that is what will go down in my entry.

Hopefully your week is going smoothly or at the very least within your ability to keep up on in. If not I can only suggest that you take it day-by-day and look at what you can do better to change the circumstances around you vs. sitting in a pool of pity waiting for a sunny day to dry things out.
