New Neighbors

One thing is for sure when you have a rental house across the street. That would be the simple fact that you will never really know how good or bad the previous renters were until you have new ones move into the neighborhood.

The previous renters were actually not that bad and kept to themselves for the most part and I am still not sure why they left. I can only assume the lease was up and the owner wanted them out (he does that if they are causing problems or if he needs to raise the rent and they can't pay the new rent). The previous neighbors did have a tendency to borrow tools and return them either late, dinged and dirty or a combination of those things. All of which are huge annoyances to me. Otherwise they were nice, clean people just trying to get by like everyone else I think.

Well they moved out in a hurry and totally unexpected around the first of the month and we started to see a work truck show up to clean the place out, paint and that sort of thing. I assumed the guy that owns it was finally going to just put it up for sale. At least I was given all of my tools back that I had loaned them otherwise I would be fuming!

This morning I heard a bunch of noise outside and when I looked out there were 4 or 5 pickup trucks with furniture in them ready and waiting to be taken into the vacant house.

One of the trucks did look like one that was there the previous few days doing maintenance so I don't know if that is a coincidence or if that was the new neighbor prepping the house to move in. Heck it could even be that they bought it. But to have done so and closed the deal so quickly would be pretty surprising.

No matter my point is that here we go again with new neighbors. Wondering how they will be and how they will take care of the property. That is always the unknown that can make a neighbor a total pain in the ass especially if they are renting and don't really care.

I guess all in all it's better than the house sitting empty or foreclosed. We already have one foreclosure down the street that 15 Mexicans lived in then deserted after a year or so. Right across the street from it we have another home that is now up for sale as well. I don't care for that because it makes the neighborhood feel empty and uncertain who is coming and going all of the time.

All we can do now is hope for the best possible. Welcome the new peeps when we see them and hope that some all night partying assholes have not moved into the neighborhood. If so, shxt is going down pretty fast - I for one am not the type to put up with that.

Cheers to the new peeps on the block! I hope you enjoy your stay on this awesome street we call home. All we ask is that you watch your P's and Q's 'cause the rest of the street wont put up with any riff-Raff moving in.

Carson

Drove down to see mom in Carson yesterday afternoon after we ran a couple errands around town that we had been putting off the entire vacation. It was a really short visit again which is really weird and makes me / us feel bad to say the least. But when she is all over the place with stuff and lack of conversation is there it makes it so hard. We hung out for only an hour I think total which sucks after a 45 minute drive each way but at least we got to see her and she knows she is not alone entirely with this sickness that has taken her away from us all.

She was getting ready for dinner about the time we decided to leave so we figured that was the best time to take off and she would not be as emotional about it since her mind would be focused on the BBQ chicken, home fries and ice cream for dessert that would soon be served.

We told her bye for now and that we would be back in a couple days. We have to say that even thought it will usually be a week, otherwise it really messes with her mind. Knowing that she may not see a familiar face for that long is almost incomprehensible so we have to keep it simple. So we said see you in a few days, gave her a nice hug and a kiss and left to let her have dinner, hot cocoa (she loves the stuff) and we made the 45 minute trek home.

Getting To It

OK so yesterday was a bit of a waste once again otherwise because we did not get anything else done to the baby room, the letters we are painting or things that need to be unboxed are still in boxes. I am burned out from cutting them down and building stuff ha ha, but not really. So today I MUST get started on that dam 3D printer build. There is no excuse for it to not be started by now other than I have been lazy and not really in the mood to start something that will require so much effort and thought. Then once built it will require even more to setup and run a print.

Well I had better put on my big boy pants and get going on it otherwise the next thing I know it will be the start of the first workweek of the year for us and I will be extra bummed that I had not done so when I had all the time in the world! Hopefully tomorrow I have an update that I made some excellent progress on the build or better yet, finished it (not holding my breath on that one). So until tomorrow, have a great day!

Photo: Yea I know, we were baaaad tonight for dinner but Cicely was craving a fillet-o-fish so I got a chicken wrap. Could have been worse I guess.
