First things first I wanted to say happy Veterans Day to all of the vets out there as well as to the families that have veterans in their lives. You do not get the respect or attention you deserve from our government or people once your service is done it seems. That is unfortunate in many ways. Yet on one special day everyone suddenly remembers and honors you.
Like any other holiday and what annoys me about most of them is that the things we celebrate on those individual days should be part of our daily lives and not only one particular day of the year that we are told to do so. If society would just do the right thing more often throughout the year think how much better off the world would be in general.
Anyway, I will not get up on that soapbox today I just want it to be on everyone's mind. Plus I don't get the day off to attend any parades or events so I cannot speculate their attendance.
Snooze Button
So this Monday morning was no different and I was bit by the lazy bug. I managed to continue to smack the 5 minute snooze button for the full hour that it tries to get me up. I think it figures that after an hour you better be up and moving or have a good reason as to why you are several hours late for work! Luckily I was able to get up, just before the final 5 minute wake-up call which is a good thing - today I could have stayed there another hour.
Fall Sunburn, Really?
What? A sunburn in fall - basically winter, but how? I do not know - well I do but that is besides the point. I guess I am one of the few people that are not traveling somewhere right now in the Caribbean or somewhere else tropical that may be dealing with a sunburn in November. I cant remember the last time that I had a decent burn much less the last time I had one in friggin' November! On the plus side it is cold enough out that it's actually a little comforting - I am roasting hot from the burn. Although today it is supposed to be in the 70's - just my luck, although not the heat of summer thankfully.
So since yesterday evening it has been cool showers, moisturizing lotions and after sun spray that contains aloe as well as gooey aloe gel that feels oh-so-nice. Luckily I put sunblock on my face otherwise I would really look like a lobster today.
I kinda dread the gym since I will be hot already, then sweating like crazy from the exercise wont help. No matter, cant miss out on a day of exercise just because of a little too much sun. I think this is a sign that I was in-doors too much this past summer and really need to get my butt out and take part in summertime activities. Whether yard work or playing at the lake I need to get out there a little more this coming summer and get some much needed vitamin D.
Back At It
So it's pretty much business as usual otherwise. I am already scheduled for some quick meetings the minute I walk in the door - oh joy! But it's all part of the workday and as long as things are moving forward then I am happy. It's no fun, for me anyway, being stuck in a rut spinning my wheels on something for days on end. I know some peeps love challenges like that, not me. I want to get to the point, solve the problem and move on to the next "thing".
With that; I hope Monday treats you well, if not prepare tonight and grab Tuesday by the balls!
Photo: Heading to work. Sunny out and almost no traffic. Must be a lot of people off today.
