Driving For Hours

This morning we are making the 2 hour drive down to Carson to visit mom for a little while and take her a cool stuffed dog I found online. It actually looks just like her dog Nemo so hopefully she likes it as much as we think she will. If not, that is ok too - worth a try. There is a lot if information regarding dementia patients and Alzheimer's patients doing great when they have something like that for sort of a safety net.

Really it's no different than a child with a doll or favorite blanket for security. Sure it feels weird buying mom something like this but this dementia crap is weird on its own so I will try almost anything to help comfort her. I know my sister Kelly would as well.

Post Office

So somehow I managed to miss the postman yesterday and so he had to leave a note that my package was at the post office since I was not here to sign for it. Dang-it, I really hate when people ship stuff and make it signature required but don't warn you about it. It's a bit of a pain and out of the way to go get it and I don't want to wait another 4 days or so for the postman to redeliver it if I sign the form and leave it in the box.

**Update: Post office had it and we were able to get it before heading to see mom in Carson.

Yea I know, boo-hoo first world problems right? But c'mon it's my new bad ass NiteCore flashlight that I have been researching and waiting to get for over a year. One more day without it will drive me over the edge - ok kidding, but I do want to get my hands in it!

We will stop on the way out of town and see if we can pick it up. I did not think the post office was open today but the note said it would be available after 9 AM so I figured that it's worth a try.

Dam You Kettle!

So just as I do every morning I immediately put water in my Bodum water kettle to get it boiling so I could make my first cup of coffee. Unfortunately upon returning to get my hot water it had not yet boiled in the least. The infamous switch breaking on this model kettle happened to me finally after 1.5 years of use, dammit!

So today I had to do the old boil water in the microwave method. Sure it works, but it takes a lot longer when you are used to a kettle boiling in under a minute. Not to mention now I have to go out and find a new kettle. After spending $50 on this one such a short time ago I am a little gun shy.

No matter the search will commence later today when we get back from visiting mom and running some errands. At least there is a backup method with the microwave. Yep I know - "boo-hoo", more 1st world problems. I sure have a lot of those today LOL.

Park

Alright that does it for today. I have to get my ass in gear and get down to see mom before she goes to have lunch. Hopefully it's a smooth drive and we get to visit for a little while before she wants to nap or has an activity.

Otherwise have a good Saturday and get shxt done if you need to or just chill. Until tomorrow see-ya!

Photo:Toy dog for mom. Looks just like Nemo! Sorry, did not want to take it out of the plastic until we were able to give it to her. Looks kinda creepy huh?
