So it started off as an early ass, crack of the morning day and the evening came as fast as every other part in between the hours of today. Really I don't have much to say other than it has been another crazy one to add to my list of, well, crazy days of summer at work. It has been non-stop and full steam ahead every minute. Today I came in with the thought of getting more done by being here 3 hours earlier than usual and staying a couple hours later. Yea, I should know better, F+ for that brilliant idea.
Really all this did was allow those that were in need of me to have an opportunity to see me earlier. In turn, I finally started working on my content about an hour after I would have normally came in. Hmm, hard to decide if this is a plus or not that I decided to drag my pregnant wife out of bed to come into work early only to have no real results from it. I don't dare admit that to her now do I?
Deep Orange Glow
Earlier today I started getting huge whiffs of smoke (I sit right next to the window at work and its not very well sealed in certain areas where there are emergency exits). Anyway, everything outside started to turn orange and the smell became stronger and stronger. By the time I headed down to the gym it was apparent that this was not leftover smoke from the California fires earlier in the week.
Later I would find out that this new stream of smoke sitting in the valley was caused by a massive rim-fire in, or just outside of the Yosemite National Park. At the time I write this it has been burning since sometime Thursday (August 21, 2013). The fire has already consumed over 16,000 acres, 80 square miles and is only 2% contained as I type this entry.
I will admit, it has been a crazy fire season seeing that its the end of summer (which is kinda rare usually we have most fires mid-summer). No matter I really hope everyone in its path is safe, including wildlife, homes and everything in-between.
Ashes
For me though this post has finished its burn and is now turning to ash. I need to call it a day, go home and watch some Battlestar Galactica (we are on season 3 now - woot) and relax. I can only imagine that tomorrow will be just as crazy - but I plan to give it hell - bring it Friday!
