Dramaday

Last night it rained like crazy! It has not rained like that in over a year at least. Thunderstorms, lightening and flash flooding everywhere in the valley. Usually we have one or two of these summer storms during the hotter months of summer, so in that regard it was on time for a good storm.

Problem is that last night was my lawn night so obviously that did not get done. Tonight is supposed to be more of the same according to the weather guessers in the radio this morning. I welcome it, but really want to get the yard done before the weekend gets here!

Drama

I honestly do t understand why the workplace has to have so much drama anymore. Everyone gets too stressed out or starts taking things personally. It's business and nothing personal people. We spend our days making games, designing, coding and related. We are not saving lives or discovering new planets or cures for disease. Lets try to look at it that way and remember.

My day started out with over an hour of drama and problems that should have never escalated in the first place. All I needed was an answer to a simple question to continue on with my evening of work and development.

I chalk this stuff up to people having a bad day most of the time. I mean we are human and all have bad days, I know that I do. But you have to press on and deal with it rather than let it affect the entire team. The work will still be there tomorrow as will the problems. Better to regroup, focus and solve them rather than draw shxt out.

No matter it is what it is and we will all get through it. Hopefully look back and laugh as well, but not likely. More likely we will breath a sigh of relief and move on to the next game.

Apologies for the venting and lack of details but its really not necessary to get my point across. Society is too focused on soft landings and rounded corners. Everything is about how you fell and your comfort. I for one live parts of it but come on people - it's getting a little out of hand in the workplace!

Codes Of Conduct

I had to do this code of conduct class yesterday, as does everyone in the company. While its great in theory, most of it is nothing more than common sense to me. I guess it's better to be safe if you are in the companies position. Think of it as a gentle reminder.

For example; there were points in there about not sharing important or confidential information with others outside the company. Don't try to get your family cleaning business the contract or that sort if thing.

To me I can't understand why you would want to freely give info on financials to another company or competitor. Friend, family or not you are being paid to do a job for a company. Entrusted with sensitive data and so on.

Having a families cleaning business come in does not seem as big of a deal if they do a good job and you don't benefit directly from it financially etc. At the same time if it is your companies policy you need to adhere to it or find another company to work for. I have been on both sides of the fence and as much as I hate to admit it, policies do come out ahead in my book.

Enough

Alright enough outta me for one day. I want to get over to moms tonight to check on her and make her some dinner and go on with my week. Life is what you make of it. If you are unhappy with a situation don't wait for the situation to change around you, be proactive and beat the fucker to the punch!
